"The Drag" - Ty Segall (2008)
"The Drag" is a formidable tune, with heavily distorted fuzzed-out guitar riffs and vocals, just like a proper garage punk dynamite should, and it`s included in Ty Segall`s 2008 self-titled debut album.
This acclaimed 27 year-old garage rocker, a singer/guitarist/drummer/songwriter influenced by The Stooges, The Sonics, The Standells, Hawkwind and Marc Bolan (to name just a few), so fucking talented and prolific, having already released 8 solo albums plus dozens of other releases, singles, EPs, live albums & side projects since 2008 and having also been associated with countless acts so far ( a member of 8 or 9 bands, If I`m not mistaken), reminds me so much of a younger version of His Majesty, the great Billy Childish and, as far as I`m concerned, he can definitely be considered as a modern-day rock`n`roll savior.
"…Listen all you people that like to move,
I got a new, new thing that’ll make you groove,
And go down, down,
Hit the floor!
It’s called “The Drag”, it’s called “The Drag”…
It’s called “The Drag”, “Drag”! Do it the time now!
So find yourself a partner, don’t you wait no more,
And go take ‘em by the hand and take ‘em to the floor,
Go down, down, down,
‘Till you fall!
Do “The Drag”, do “The Drag”…
Do “The Drag”, “Drag”! Do it the time, now!
