For the silkscreen commemorating their October 26 Metro gig, Wild Belle is going back to their Chicago roots with a tantalizing print from Fugscreens. The print, capturing the technicolor wash and ‘70s flower pop influences of the duo’s soul-tinged ditties, is as eye-popping as it is whimsical. Check out more of Fugscreen’s work here.

Still at the Renegade Craft Festival in Chicago (probably will be for a lot more posts) and fell upon another brilliant screen printer.  FugScreens Studios, created by School of the Art Institute Graduate Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff is part of the vibrant Wicker Park neighborhood, and although I saw them at the craft festival they are located right around the block in Wicker Park in the Mural Building.

Pictured above is a gig poster for the Detroit Cobras, one of my favorites from Fug (and soon to be an edition to my personal collection in my house).  Below that are too more images from their fine art collection, featuring images from a children’s book I can’t remember and Ryu from Street Fighter.  For my two cents, that is part of what makes Fug so cool is the use of imagery that strikes a chord as familiar, but is hard to place.

UP NEXT:  Candy Corn Ghosts AND if I have enough room a rotund man swimming.   I promise the next post will be better than it sounds.
