Freelee the banana girl promoting unhealthy habits....

Okay, I’ve learnt a lot from freelee & she does have SOME good advice. But damn, she’s introducing too many people to the vegan lifestyle in such a bad, extreme way that now we’re all getting a bad rap. 

She’s always negative and bashing… & doesn’t realize people who come from eating disorder backgrounds will just fall into yet another eating disorder because her diet is extreme after all. It’s totally sustainable for her, but it isn’t for many other people I reckon, especially people not living in tropical countries. Also, keeping the fat so low (sometimes less than 10%!) is not advisable for younger girls/women since our brains are still developing, and fat does feed the brain. Guys, don’t feel bad for eating an entire avocado, or for having chickpeas.

It’s fucking ridiculous that she’s calling legumes etc. bad foods while they’re such a complete source of nutrients and so filling and fibrous. 

Wanna know how to be a healthy vegan?

FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. It’s okay to find her lifestyle too extreme, because it is. You can be a vegan while eating lots of fruit yes, but you can still enjoy your cooked meals whenever you want…. and your avocados and your beans! Don’t worry about what she says, yes carbing the fuck up is amazing, but not to the detriment of other foods and nutrients.


Anyone here support Freelee and Durianrider? These are screen shots from his Instagram. Posting videos and photos of unsuspecting people and mocking them. This is disgusting and is actually illegal. How can people defend this behaviour? How can people say this is a good way to spread the vegan message? They are a disgrace to the vegan community, and do not deserve support and respect. These two literally earn money from shaming people and it needs to stop.

Freelee makes videos about people who have put on weight, saying everyone can have a thigh gap and also that she has not gotten her period in years. She is meant to be promoting health, but there is nothing healthy about that. And it definitely is not a good way to promote veganism. They both look at anyone who doesn’t have the same bodies or lifestyle as they do in disgust. They think that just because Freelee used to be overweight that gives them a free pass to mock and talk however they want about peoples weight. I remember watching a video where Freelee said very aggressively that if a fat person gets in the way and blocks the entrance, they make their weight her business. Durianrider likes to take photos of random people in the street and then mock them about their posture, weight and what they are buying in supermarkets. He does this publicly on the internet. They both don’t seem to understand that not everyone can and will look like they do. They do not understand that everyone’s bodies function differently. They do not understand that people can be healthy and be all different body types and weight. They do not understand that what may work for them might not work for others. When someone comes to them saying Freelee’s diet is not giving them positive results, they take it as criticism. They call people liars, accuse them of cheating and block them instead of helping, like they are supposed to do. Durianrider also likes to mock people with eating disorders and says that it is just an excuse. They absolutely can not handle criticism, blocking anyone that dares to challenge them. They both promote unhealthy behavior and are terrible vegan advocates. Those two are sickening, fatphobic, body shaming, narcissistic bigots who are so far up their own assholes I’m surprised they are able to function.

Hello everyone! Recently, I have found a youtube channel called Freelee the Banana Girl, I can't stop watching her videos, yet I am so triggered. She posts videos about how everyone was born to have thigh gaps and how everyones meant to be skinny. She is absolutely skinny and eats fruit only (raw till 4). Anyway, I can't stop watching her but I am so triggerered. what should i do?

   Oh my god, just stay AWAY. I hate her with the burning passion of one thousand suns. She says a lot of completely IDIOTIC things, and she makes a lot of people sick by spewing her nonsense. Please, please, PLEASE do not watch her videos. She is not God, but she likes to act like it, and what she is preaching disgusts me. I remember how triggered I was watching her videos.

    I wish I had a better answer for you, but sometimes you have to just beeline away from your triggers, especially since this woman has NO science to back her up, except for one dumb guy who wrote a dumb book. In fact, she goes AGAINST science, and just pushes unrealistic dieting and food restrictions on others. Trust me, I had this period with Freelee. I fixed it by ignoring the F*CK out of her. Let her think she’s happy by eating kilos of bananas and potatoes everyday. *insert more swear words here*

  • She thinks that going vegan/raw vegan can cure almost any illness or disease that you have (INCLUDING EATING DISORDERS WHICH IS BULLSHIT) 
  • She gives out nutrition information like she’s a doctor 
  • She takes other youtubers videos and uploads them then bashes them to get views 
  • She uploaded a video shortly after Talia Joy died literally saying that going raw vegan could have saved this little girls life which is extremely fucking disrespectful and you can watch the video » here «
  • Basically anyone who disagrees with her on anything is wrong and bad
  • She made a video saying anyone can get a thigh gap if you eat raw vegan
  • Talked about how losing her period was a good thing on a raw food diet 
  • Body shames anyone who doesn’t look like her and isn’t on a vegan diet 
  • refuses to accept the fact that veganism isn’t for everyone

i’m sure there’s more but those are the main ones that come to mind

i actually have no problem with what she’s promoting because i do believe the vegan diet can be very beneficial to some people, but personality wise, she sucks. 


Freelee the Banana Girl  is not a good person. She has no right to speak on  other peoples’ bodies OR their health. Being fat does not always mean you are unhealthy. She constantly comments on Trisha Paytas’videos and tells her that what she is eating is not healthy for her and tells her the reasons she is gaining weight. And then when people go off on her about it she claims she is just trying to “help.” She’s “motivating” people into losing weight by making them feel bad about them selves.

It’s perfectly okay to promote a healthy lifestyle but if somebody doesn’t want to live that way then don’t push it on them.

I could not disagree more.

I should just say up front - I believe you can like something or someone whilst admitting that it is/they are problematic in certain aspects. You don’t have to side with everything they do or say.

While I subscribe to Freelee, am interested in her as a person and do enjoy watching her videos, I don’t agree with everything she says. Don’t even get me started on Harley…

I think it’s fantastic that she promotes and advocates for an ethical lifestyle, I know she’s helped convert a lot of people to plant based diets - even if she uses her midriff to lure viewers in, she knows that’s what many of them want to see, so it works. I like that she’s candid and real, she doesn’t plan or script her videos, but is just honest on the spot with her own opinions.

That said - thigh gaps for everybody? Nope. Not at all.

We are all built entirely differently. Different genetics, different diets, jobs, lifestyles, habits, needs etc - how could we possibly expect to look the same? While I’m sure a lot of people naturally have wide set hips or very thin upper thighs, I don’t believe that we’re all born or designed to have legs that don’t touch. It’s simply a physiological aspect of one’s body, much like cup size or hip to waist ratio, they are unique to us and our unique shape and size :)

I’m sure exercise and diet can certainly influence the shape of one’s legs, but I don’t think the absence of thigh in a certain space is a healthy goal to work towards. Take high performance professional athletes like cyclists or sprinters, they have some of the biggest thighs around. Full with muscle that they have spent hours and hours of dedication to build - is that to say that their bodies aren’t normal/healthy/desirable or anything but perfect? 

Just while we’re here, I want to state that 20 years ago models weighed 8% less than a healthy weight, and now it’s 23% less. The standards we have for beauty, and the standards so many compare themselves against - are not attainable and nor should they be.

Please don’t ever sacrifice your mental or physical wellbeing for space between your legs. Treasure and love those babies everyday because we take them SO much for granted, and could not do the things we do without them. Our legs are bodies and should be cherished every single day, just as they are, in their natural, happy state.
