This might not seem weird to people who live in the US or on an island, but we’re in Munich. If you drive 3 hours in any direction, chances are you will hit another country (exception: straight north).
Austria is 50 miles away, Switzerland and the Czech Republic less than 100, Italy, France and Slovenia 200 miles. Off the top of my head I can remember about 5 or 6 school trips we took to one of the neighbouring countries. I don’t think I’ve met anyone around here who has never left the country.
