Today’s black history month post is about Disney’s Fillmore! The show was created by Scott M. Gimple that aired on ABC and the Toon Disney networks during its run. The show was basically a giant homage to crime dramas of the 70s.

The show was about Cornelius Fillmore, a former juvenile delinquent who is now a star member of the safety patrol at his school, X Middle School. He and his partner, Ingrid Third, solved problems under the guidance of their commissioner, Horatio Vallejo. The show’s theme song was “Das Über Tuber, or, The Mystery of Mr. P”, by Ookla the Mok.

The show ran for two seasons and had 26 episodes created by the end of its run. It debuted in September 2002, and wrapped up its original run in January 2004. It was cancelled due to low ratings but was considered to have had a dedicated fan base. It has aired on ABC, Toon Disney, and recently on the Disney XD network between 2009 and 2012. It was the last show to be produced exclusively by Walt Disney Television Animation, and was also the last saturday morning cartoon for ABC.

The show starred Orlando Brown (Eddie from That’s So Raven and Sticky from The Proud Family) as Fillmore and Tara Strong (The Powerpuff Girls, Fairly OddParents, etc) as Ingrid. Every character in the series is named after a street in San Francisco, though the show actually takes place in the suburbs of Minneapolis. The show also starred All That alumni Danny Tamberelli and Kyle Sullivan as secondary characters.

Notable guest stars on the show include Steve Carell, Josh Peck, Frankie Muniz, Hayden Panettierre, Raven-Symone, Jennifer Hale and Phil Lamarr.

The series has not been released on DVD, but iTunes Germany has it available (for some reason or another). Some episodes can currently be found on youtube.
