"Treasure Planet is my favorite Disney movie because it makes me feel free; sometimes I get so anxious and unhappy in my life that I want to run away from everything. But, as a person with a chronic illness, I can’t do that. So whenever I feel like that, I watch Treasure Planet, look at the vastness of the universe it’s created, and I feel comforted."

Let me tell you a little thing about this book ok

This book is the most wonderful piece of literature I’ve read.
You see those sticky notes hanging from the side? Those are my favourite quotes and there are a ton of them!

It follows this kid named Charlie who lives in a little Australian town, with his mum and dad, and his best friend Jeffrey who lives across the road. Now, normally, Charlie is like a regular kid who reads and writes and that’s about it, he’s not too adventurous at all.
Then one night, this kid named Jasper Jones knocks on Charlie’s window asking for help with something. Jasper is the town ‘bad boy’ so he is shunned in their little town (but secretly, girls love him).

So like, how weird does that sound, Bad Boy comes to Nerdy Kid for help???

So anyway, Jasper and Charlie embark in the middle of the night to this secret place where they find something (damn I can’t tell you what) that changes Charlie. So then, the whole book follows Charlie trying to live his life with this secret, while also waiting for Jasper to turn back up (not cool Jasper), AND find out the truth of this mystery (ohhhh spooky).

So, as well as all that, this book has a heap of important themes like racism and love and abuse and SO MANY OTHER THINGS, ITS SO BRILLIANT

Plus, if you’re like me and you love a good ol’ metaphor or simile, there are millions of them in this book!!! It brings a smile to my face just thinking about the writing. And the descriptive language, uhhhhh! This book will bring out the English nerd in you!!

It’s also so so so easy to slip into!

So, in a nutshell, this is why you should read this book
-Bad boy and Nerd!!!
-1965 Australia!!!!!
-Aussie slang!!!!!
-Swearing (I love books with swearing)
-So many important themes
-Some awesome life lessons

so basically, you should read this book!!!!

So fucking sad and the lyrics are so fucking fitting. “As I’m leaving the one I want to take”, “It’s always have and never hold, you’ve begun to feel like home”. The timing…

If I don’t say this now I will surely break as I’m leaving the one I want to take. Forget the urgency but hurry up and wait. My heart has started to separate. Oh be my baby. Oh be my baby. I’ll look after you.

There now, steady love, so few come and don’t go. Will you, won’t you be the one I’ll always know? When I’m losing my control the city spins around, you’re the only one who knows, you slow it down. Oh be my baby, oh be my baby. I’ll look after you. And I’ll look after you.

If ever there was a doubt my love she leans into me. This most assuredly counts she says most assuredly. Oh be my baby. I’ll look after you. Oh be my baby.

It’s always have and never hold, you’ve begun to feel like home. What’s mine is yours to leave or take, what’s mine is yours to make your own. Oh be my baby. x/x
