LFW: Issa AW 2012

There was a bit of something for everyone in Daniella Helyel’s ’70s-tinged “Trans-Siberian” Fall 2012 collection for Issa London. For those who lean towards the preppier side of things, there were capes in tailored wool or cableknit; for the more bohemian among us, flowing maxi dresses in swirling paisley; and — for those who aim to emulate Issa’s most royal fanbase — a long-sleeved, full-length gown in bright red lace.

Sui He chats, backstage at Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

image

On her reaction when she found out she would be walking: “I was so surprised. I never thought that I could do the show, it seemed so hard to me. It’s not my dream, it’s bigger than my dream. The Victoria’s Secret show, for Asians girls, it’s very difficult to get it. But now I’m here!”

On her nerve level: “Before I knew I was going to be in the show, I was nervous — I watched the videos of last year, every year — but now that I’m here, I’m fine, I’m good. I’m just going to enjoy.”

On how fellow Chinese model Liu Wen helped her prepare: “I asked her a lot of questions yesterday about the Victoria’s Secret show, about what to do, because I was so nervous.”

"Colorful party dresses that sparkle with vim and optimism were the bulk — and, in fact, almost the entirety — of Erin Fetherston’s Resort 2013 collection. The plentiful frocks came in bright hues of turquoise, orange, and pink, and a few were decorated with oversized bows. There were a few separates in neutral colors — a white jacket and gray cardigan, for example — and lace dresses in black, white, and navy looked especially demure next to their shimmery cousins. While a few short dresses had front panels liberally sprinkled with sequins, an excellent pink number was covered with them from neckline to hem."

Alexander McQueen Resort 2013. WOW. Look at these silhouettes. The prints, textures, stitching, embellishment, lines and shapes of this collection are incredible. Feels more Fall and special to me than Resort wear.

Fashionologie says (& I agree..):

The ’70s style of David Bowie and the paintings of Gustav Klimt inspired the form-fitting, metallic-patterned Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 collection. After a few seasons of showing little other than intensely detailed dresses and gowns, Sarah Burton said she “wanted to bring everything back to the body.” She accomplished that by pairing generously lapeled, torso-hugging blazers with lean, boot-cut trousers and by cinching those menswear-inspired looks with wide belts. Many of the dresses got the same belted treatment but featured fabrics and treatments — like an art deco metallic jacquard or intricate gold embroidery — that helped serve as a feminine response to the collection’s more masculine pieces.

We love this high shine high drama sneaker makeover—these amazing Miu Miu kicks would look amazing with a black motorcycle jacket, a simple white tee, and black leather shorts! Sometimes less is more, but in the case of these sneakers, the more glitter, studs, rhinestones, and metal, the better!
