Cheer Up!
Artist: Toshikazu Tanaka
Album: Rage of the Dragons Original Soundtrack

Notes: This game was actually developed in Mexico, so I surprise this duo shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Not sure if I appreciate being told to cheer up by a song title, though.

Funky Togetherness
Artist: Toshikazu Tanaka
Album: Rage of the Dragons Original Soundtrack

Notes: With a song title like that and a character like Mr. Jones, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out how this song probably sounds. There’s more guitar than I would have expected, but the kung fu-nky is all present and accounted for.

Violent Death
Artist: Toshikazu Tanaka
Album: Rage of the Dragons Original Soundtrack

Notes: It’s a fighting game, so there has to be at least one rockin’ track in the set (unless it’s the Soul series, of course). The stage itself is admittedly plain, and I’m not really sure what to think of these character designs. I guess it’s kind of neat that Cassandra has autism, but Oni is just an edgy edgemaster, so fuck him.

Splendid Spring From China
Artist: Toshikazu Tanaka
Album: Rage of the Dragons Original Soundtrack

Notes: A bit more pleasant than some of the other tracks in the game, and I’ve always dug the stage too. Billy’s got a pretty cool car! Oh, I guess the kids are kind of cute as well.

Beat Out
Artist: Toshikazu Tanaka
Album: Rage of the Dragons Original Soundtrack

Notes: A bit of a lesser-known fighter on the Neo-Geo, I’ve always had a bit of a fascination for Rage of the Dragons (same with Breakers, while I’m at it). It certainly helps that it’s ‘inspired’ by Double Dragon at least, though a few of the original characters are a little lame. It just so happens to have a pretty neat soundtrack, too! Check this game out sometime!
