A £45,000 Environment Agency investigation into the illegal use of land in Little Hadham and Elsenham has resulted in fines totalling £1,050.

Hadham Industrial Estates Ltd, which manages units at Church End Farm, Little Hadham, was given a £650 penalty with £2,065 costs.

And Michael Aherne, 44, who was a partner with Recycle Car Services Ltd and Recycle Tyre Services Ltd, was fined £400 with £2,500 costs.

Both pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court to not holding environmental permits for the respective operations.
