Dome of the Rock- While meandering through the Old City of Jerusalem today, I couldn’t help but marvel at one of the holiest sites in Islam – Masjid Qubbat As-Sakhrah (Dome of the Rock mosque).
The Dome of the Rock, which is more than 1,000 years old, is so sacred to Muslims because it commemorates when Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.) was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Night Journey.
It was difficult to not gaze in awe as I engulfed myself in the mosque’s rich history and absolutely magnificent architecture (both inside and outside – as you can see, I couldn’t choose just one photo from today to post)!
