The colors

Delpoze, Carolina Herrera, Peter Som.

For this upcoming Spring, I’m really loving all the shades of green and yellow. Green is not an easy color to pull off but the shades that were shown for this season are really vibrant. The soft yellows are perfect for an understated look.

The prints

DKNY, Altuzarra, and DVF.

I was really blown away by all the prints DKNY put out for Spring. I think Donna succeeded in showing the essence of NYC through her collection. But the BIGGEST thing for me from this week are all the menswear inspired prints. Gingham has been ALL over numerous collections and it looks fantastic. The pinstripes are looking great, too.

The lines & draping

Donna Karan, Zac Posen, Christian Siriano.

No one can drape a dress like Donna Karan. No one. Zac’s collection was inspired by Audrey Hepburn but for some reason, unlike it’s inspiration, it fell flat. This dress though really showed off what Zac can do with fabric. Christian Siriano is a favorite of mine. His dresses are full of grandeur and I wish they saw more red carpet time. His collection was spot on.

The ode to the decades

DVF, Tommy Hilfiger, and Coach.

The 60s and 70s were seen all over the runways this past week. Tommy’s collection more than most, however. I loved seeing designers go back in time for this inspiration because it truly showed how fashion is cyclical. But, I really wish bell bottoms never come back.
