David Tennant Appreciation Week: Day Seven

Happy Birthday David Tennant

“I think in the end there’s just something so open about him, he just literally welcomes people in. You find yourself drawn to the screen, and then you sit down and you stay because you want to spend that hour with him. Actors like that are golden, people like that are golden.”
(Russell T. Davies on David Tennant)

Behind the scenes of The Idiot’s Lantern (Part Three of Four)
Other Parts (so far):  [ 1 ], [ 2 ]

Excerpts from Jason Arnopp’s interviews in DWM #371

Euros [Lyn, Director]: “At one point, David had such a duck’s arse haircut that I was afraid we’d taken it too far!  Both their haircuts were a nightmare, cos every time their helmets went on and off, the hair had to be reset.”

Mark [Gatiss, Writer]: “I got so used to David having huge hair that it was quite a shock to see him with normal hair in the other stories!”

Euros discussing “Faceless Rose”:
“It really was Billie Piper standing there, mainly because it’s such an emotive scene for the Doctor. But she had crosses all over her face, so she and David just wet themselves!  At the beginning of that scene, she had a blanket over her head as well, and when that came off her hair kept standing up at a funny angle.  I think that was the scene with the most corpsing.  Seven takes.”

Happy Birthday, David!!!

April 22, 1987 - David Luiz Moreira Marinho (#4 Brazil National Team / #32 Paris St-Germain)

From humble beginnings, you are now a world-class footballer with numerous accolades to your name. And yet, you remain deep-rooted in your values, loving and grateful towards your family and friends; warm and kind towards your fans; and an all-around good guy to your colleagues and everyone else around you. You always say, “keep your two feet on the ground”, and that is definitely what you have embodied in everything that you do.

People have subjected you to countless jokes and criticism which you do not deserve. People have unfairly held you and your abilities as a footballer in doubt. People have so conveniently overlooked the wonderful things that you have done, and pounced on any given opportunity just to bring you down. People have a lot to say, but I only listen to the truth. After all, you wouldn’t be where you are today had it not been for your abilities in the first place. You always strive to do your very best. You assume responsibility for your mistakes like a true professional. You are unbelievably optimistic, even when circumstances are bleak. You are the epitome of strength, and your spirit is infectious. If heart and passion were to have a name, it would be David Luiz.

I am thankful for your existence, and the example of a human being that you set out to be. I am immensely proud of you, as a footballer and as a person. I wish you all the best in your life and career, and may you stay happy always. Parabéns David Luiz, feliz aniversário!
