I recently discovered this brand called Sinstar, they’re based in the UK and they carry a lot of awesome hipster-y stuff from galaxy-printed shirts to flannels to beanies. So for today I thought I’d dress like one! I also came up with 5 ways you can be a true-blue hipster! Just for fun, haha!

Being a hipster isn’t just about dressing like one. It’s the music you listen to, the things you like and your way of living. Which brings us to—1. You must hate anything mainstream. Listen to songs you haven’t heard of, watch movies from the 1920’s, support independent films—and oh, you must love cats.

What I’m wearing: denim jacket (Forever 21 Men), galaxy shirt (Sinstar), beanie (Sinstar), pants (Topman), watch (Technomarine), sneakers (Converse). Hype this look on lookbook here.

Denim jacket from Forever 21 Men | Shirt from Sinstar2. Don’t drive a fancy car. In fact, don’t even own a car at all. Walk or ride a bike instead. Make sure it’s a fixed gear bike—preferably the one with a basket in front.

image

Galaxy shirt from Sinstar | 3. Dress like a hipster. Think flannels, bowler hats, denim jackets/vests, skinny jeans, thick-framed glasses and worn out Converse shoes—and remember to keep your hair messy.

image

Beanie from Sinstar | 4. Have an impressive set of instagram photos. Your instagram photos must be artistic with a deep quote you probably don’t understand yourself. You can download photo editing apps such as Afterlight, Moldiv, Instatext, Squaready, VSCOcam, etc. If instagram is too mainstream for you, buy an instax or a Holga camera.

So I was strolling around SM Mall of Asia last night and was about to go to the verandah to take some pictures when I saw the famous fashion blogger and one of Forever 21’s brand ambassador, David Guison. I was dumbfounded. Really. I stood a few meters outside All Flip Flops store thinking on how will I approach him. I was thinking.

What will I tell him?

What if he wasn’t really DG?

What if? What if? What if?!?!?!

I was thinking, thinking, thinking and POOF! Nothing happened. I regret it. Shyness.

The next time I’ll see him, I’ll make sure that my bold other-half is with me.

I have zero halloween spirit this year. I guess this is what happens when you’re catching up on so many deadlines. I’ve been sick the whole week as well so I wasn’t really productive. But I’m so happy I got to watch tons of horror films plus I got to catch up on the new season of The Walking Dead. Let’s see if my friends and I will be able to whip something up for tonight! What are your plans for Halloween?

image

What I’m wearing: shirt (Topman), sweatshirt used as a wraparound (Topman), drop crotch pants (H&M), snapback (Color Super), calculator watch (Watch Factory), sneakers (New Balance). Hype this on lookbook here.

image

Shirt from Topman | I wore this to a styling gig a few weeks ago for a local brand. I’m not a t-shirt kind of guy but if ever I wear one, I make sure it’s pretty darn stylish. Haha! I’m really digging the Sub Sports collection of Topman this season! The new collection reflects the growing trend towards modern-day sportswear and contemporary street wear.

Just a simple, casual outfit for a day full of errands. Today was extra awesome because it’s my blog’s birthday—and I also found out that DG MNL was nominated for Best Style Blog at the Tatt Awards 2013! So honored to be the only male blogger included in this category! It feels amazing to be recognized for the work that I do, as it is something that I enjoy immensely. Hope you guys can support me and vote! You can vote every hour! Now, back to the outfit!

What I’m wearing: short sleeve oxford shirt (Original Penguin), chino pants (Cotton On), eyeglasses (SM Accessories), watch (Superdry), boat shoes (Flying Dutchman). Hype this on lookbook.nu here

Printed oxford shirts are great because they’re neither too casual nor too formal. You can throw in a cardigan or a blazer but personally I think they already look good on their own.

Scuba watch from Superdry | A diving-inspired watch with brushed stainless steel case, removable lens guard and silicone bracelet strap. Although this “scuba” watch is not really suitable for scuba diving, it’s water resistant to 10 ATM/100 meters. Available at LTimestudio

I think every outfit post I’ve published on my blog has at least one or two items from Topman—that’s how much I love the brand! Topman/Topshop is the biggest and most popular high street fashion brand in UK and I love how they’re always one step ahead of the fashion pack. They just get it.

I got so excited when I found out that they’ll be opening their biggest store to date in Robinsons Magnolia! It’s one of the few malls I go to because it’s near my place, it’s not too crowded and I won’t have to go through Edsa! Anyway, here’s what went down at the Topman/Topshop VIP opening party!

And just like that, summer is officially over. It has been raining almost everyday and if you’ve seen my previous outfit post, it’s the complete opposite of this outfit! But for some reason, I like the rainy season more—not just because of the cold weather or the fact that I could layer (lol) but I’m actually more productive! See, I was able to publish 3 blog posts this week—and it’s only a Tuesday! Haha! Anyway, here’s what I wore today.

image

What I’m wearing: denim jacket (Levi’s), button down (American Eagle Outfitters), sweatpants (A.M.S. Clothing), beanie (Sinstar), watch (Puma), all originals (Adidas). Hype this on lookbook.nu here.

image

Denim jacket from Levi’s | Button down from American Eagle Outfitters | I’m a big fan of the plaid/checkered and denim jacket combo. It instantly looks badass!

image

Sweatpants from A.M.S. Clothing | Established by young entrepreneurs, A.M.S. stands for affordable, modish and simple. The clothes they offer are good for everyday wear but they add little details which makes it so special!

image

Sneakers from Adidas All Originals | Adidas sure knows how to keep sneaker fanatics entertained—they always keep it fresh and original. I am amazed at how the brand has evolved and I love the fact that they don’t just carry training/workout shoes anymore!

Last weekend, my friends and I went on a spontaneous trip to Tagaytay (took advantage of the borrowed Ford Fiesta and free gas. Thanks Ford!). What I like about Tagaytay is that it’s only an hour away from the city and it’s a totally different world there, haha!  While it was scorching hot in Manila, it was foggy and raining all the way up! Took advantage of the weather by full on layering! Hope everyone’s enjoying the long weekend!

image

What I’m wearing: parka (Regatta), black and white tribal print sweater (Topman), plain button down (WAGW), pants (Topman), hover leather slip-on sneakers (Crocs). Hype this on lookbook here.

image

Parka jacket from Regatta. Sweater from Topman. I don’t even know how many times I wore this sweater! Trying to wear it as much as I can because it almost doesn’t fit anymore haha! As for the parka, get it a size bigger so that it won’t be too tight and also not overly baggy. Oversized jackets look better don’t you think? Plus you can keep them for a very long time.

image

Camo print iPad case from iNako

image

Hover slip-on leather sneakers from Crocs. I’ve always wanted a shoe that could withstand the rain/wet weather and keep my feet dry, plus something comfy enough for a long drive!

image

PowerShot D20 from Canon. It’s waterproof up to 33ft, shockproof up to 5ft and equipped with a GPS tracker. I’ll share with you guys some photos soon!

Something casual for the day. The trick with wearing denim on denim is you have to make sure that you mix it up with different fabric weights and washes. For this look, I paired a lightweight chambray shirt with a heavy wash jean. Then added hints of brown to tone down the all denim look.

image

What I’m wearing: chambray shirt (H&M), jeans (Levi’s), watch (Aldo), shoes (Milanos). Hype this on lookbook here.

I was invited to walk for the Dockers fashion show a few months ago—the team asked me to style myself and create a look that’s good for casual wear. This look reminds me so much of how I used to dress up in college!

image

What I’m wearing: button down (Dockers), shirt (Topman), pants (Dockers), cap (American Boulevard), bag (Herschel Supply Co.), watch (Quiksilver), sneakers (Sperry). Hype this on lookbook.nu here.

image

Button down from Dockers® | Shirt from Topman | I love the fabric of the button down because it’s like a hybrid of a chambray and tweed but it’s not! Basta! lol

Backpack from Herschel Supply Co. | This is the bag I bring to school every single day when I was in college. I know it looks overused but still use it! Heck yes. I’m back to wearing sweatpants. Wore this to a meeting and an event a few weeks back. The colors I’m wearing are pretty dull/dark so I opted to wear these mirrored sunnies from Von Zipper. I used to think these type of sunglasses are just used for outdoor sports. I’m glad they released new designs that are more suited for everyday wear. Still sporty but stylish as well—definitely made this look more interesting! What do you guys think?

image

What I’m wearing: jacket (H&M), grey sweatshirt (Uniqlo), sweatpants (Topman), watch (Oxygen Paris), mirrored sunnies (Von Zipper), boots (Caterpillar). Hype this on lookbook.nu here.

image

Jacket from H&M | Sweatshirt from Uniqlo | This jacket is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe right now. It’s a fusion of two of my favorite styles—leather and cargo!

image

Mirrored sunglasses from Von Zipper | These couldn’t have come in a more perfect time! I’ve been looking for mirrored sunnies for summer—and they’re pretty affordable compared to other high end brands! It really brings the whole look alive. Available in LS Pascual Rockwell, LS Pascual Shangri-La, SPEX Greenbelt, SPEX BGC, Sarabia Greenbelt, and Sarabia ATC.

image

Watch from Oxygen Paris | Nato strap from Asprey | Nato straps (300 bucks) are the best because you can wear the same watch for the whole week and just change the strap to a different color or print!

Belt bag, fanny pack, belly bag, bum bag, call it whatever you want—they’re not considered stylish to most people. Before, when I would see someone wearing a belt bag, I would think they’re tourists or tinderas lol.

I went to a theme park with a couple of friends—and since bringing a backpack is such a hassle, I brought my belt bag! I wouldn’t mind using one especially if it looks like this! Belt bags such as this one are fully functional & fashionable as well. Plus, they’re more theme-park friendly!

image

What I’m wearing: tank top (Forever 21 Men), jeans (Levi’s), belt bag (SM Accessories), watch (Oxygen Paris), bracelets (SM Accessories), printed socks (Topman), sneakers (Sperry). Hype this on lookbook here.
