Mayor Rahm Emanuel was dealt a crippling blow on Monday when a striker accused him of being partial to the wildly unpopular Canadian band Nickelback. The striker’s photograph went viral, unleashing yet another round of mockery for the Internet’s least-favorite rockstars. The soft-rock quartet is famous for their 2001 anthem, “How You Remind Me.”

Local blog RedEye contacted the mayor’s office if there was any basis to the dastardly rumor. A spokesperson issued a one-word response: “no.”

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) jokingly compared the teachers strike in Chicago to the unrest in the Middle East during a speech at the Values Voters summit Friday morning.

“On my way over, I was reading another story about a distant place where thugs had put 400,000 children out in the streets. And then I realized that was a story about the Chicago teachers strike. But we’ve got to think of good things.“
