Alexander Rodchenko - Factory-kitchen, 1931.

Factory-kitchens appeared in the Soviet Union in 1920-1930. They provided centralized preparation of food. The idea of it was to emancipate people (especially women) from the household work. It was a part of a project to change radically everyday life. 8 hours for work, 8 hours for leisure and 8 hours for sleep. New forms of architecture and art were means of designing this new Soviet reality.
