Going through old notebooks looking for answers to my own silence, tracing my huge hands feeling great and running out of sharpies doesn’t bother me. This is good. I will keep doing this. I hope you are loving the person you are becoming. At least trying to.

Wildflower is officially up and running, and we’re looking for artists to work with!
Wildflower is a visual arts collective based in Southern California that centers around ideas of struggle, both personal and structural, and the growth that often results from it. The collective strives to maintain a balance between personal and institutional struggles in the art it produces, as well as promote diversity in its representations of all forms of oppression. (via our About page)
Must be a visual artist. Wildflower is specifically interested in creating art within visual mediums, such as photography, painting, design, illustration, etc. - so sorry to all you writers/musicians/performers/others out there! We may have special opportunities for you in the future, so stay tuned!
Must be located in Southern California. Wildflower is big on collaboration, so you need to be pretty close to us. Lora and I currently live in San Diego, and I’ll be going back to school in Santa Barbara in the fall, so we’re extra interesting in artists in those areas.
You gotta be down with feminism! Wildflower is a feminist collective, so our artists should be too! This doesn’t mean the collective is exclusive to women or that we only make art about gender. Wildflower is inclusive of ALL genders and we make art that deals with ALL sorts of struggle. As a collective, we believe that all issues can and should be interpreted through an intersectionally feminist lens.
HOW TO APPLY TO THE COLLECTIVE:
Send us an email at email@example.com, answering the following questions:
Do you have a means of transportation?
What medium(s) do you work in?
Link us to some of your work:
What struggles (institutional and/or personal) do you face in your daily life, and how do you address them in your art? (Answer can be as short/long as you like)
Depending on how many applications we receive, we’ll try to get back to you as soon as we can. At the moment, there is not deadline for applications. We’re stoked to work with you all!
