Show your blackheads the door!

Blackheads be gone!

Ever wondered what blackheads are? When the oil and dead skin cells that are trapped in your pores make contact with the air, it oxidizes and darkens, causing the familiar appearance of a blackhead. Their favourite place to cluster is around the nose area, where they hang around being annoying! Regular exfoliation is the key, so give blackheads the boot and say hello to clear skin with a product like Simple® Clear Skin Oil Balancing Facial Scrub. It uses ingredients like zinc and chamomile to fight spots and blackheads, while the light scrubbing action removes dead skin cells and keeps pores lovely and clean. So it’s effective and gentle at the same time.

You can go a long way to preventing them with regular exfoliation, though try not to overdo it. “This is a gradual process and needs to be dealt with gently,” says our skin and make-up expert, Caroline Frazer. “Once or twice a week is enough for most people’s skin. Scrubbing too hard can cause irritation to the skin, so it’s important to be gentle.”

Everyday I start my morning with herbal tea and fresh squeezed lemon, immediately followed by water and aloe. Through out the day I’ll have a big bottle of water with added chia seeds. I usually rotate between herbal tea, aloe, and chia water when I’m not drinking veggie smoothies or juices. At night before bed I have hot water with Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and a teaspoon of honey. I aim to hydrate 30 minutes before eating solid food so that the water doesn’t dilute my body’s ability to break down food. We should be drinking half our body’s weight in ounces each day so be sure to drink your water!!!💦🐳🙌 #hydration #water #health #routine #cleaneating #clearskin #healthybody #fitfam #fitspo #beauty #detox #solution #healthtips #weightloss #acne #headaches #cure #medicine #drinkup #whatveganseat #rawvegan

I FINISHED ACCUTANE!!!!!!!!!!! 150 days later and I am done! Accutane has changed my life and changed my self esteem. I can look in the mirror and not hate what I see, I can be confident and not worry about people staring at my face. I FEEL pretty again which is something I haven’t felt in years. Thank you accutane for giving me hope, even though you were a complete bitch to take for 5 months ily ❤️

Wanna know a secret?

Grubby Mittz = Zits

Yep, we know it’s tempting to touch your face – especially when you feel a spot developing. But if you can possibly avoid it, it’s a good idea not to, because your hands could spread bacteria and dirt to your face, clogging pores and inflaming spots, a sign that your skin is sensitive and not working at its best. Make sure you wash your hands regularly, as prevention is better than a cure! Also give them a wash before you wash your face, so you’re not washing any germs and impurities into your face.

Bear in mind it’s not just your fingers that carry bacteria. Think about all the things you use on your face every day like flannels, make up brushes and sponges. Clean everything regularly, and also wash your hands before dipping your fingers into pots of cream and make up too.

A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about losing the pounds,
You develop a certain love for yourself, a certain respect that not many can experience. You learn about yourself first hand, you see yourself becoming a happier person, you wake up feeling the love for yourself because your body is thanking you. Wake up tomorrow and do something good for your body… it will repay you in smiles, clear skin, confidence, and … love.

FINALLY DONE. here’s a timeline for my accutane cycle. The first picture is before I started. Next, you can see that I had a bad reaction to the drug which made my initial breakout awful and last for two months(there is a 1 in 100 chance of this happening). After that I had to go on major antibiotics before I could start again. Super happy with the results!

Make sure you get your Zs for healthy looking skin.

Get zzz’ not zitz

Hitting the sheets and getting the Zzzzzs are important for skin health, so your skin can repair and regenerate (it’s not called beauty sleep for nothing!). But did you know that a clean pillowcase can make all the difference too? In the hot weather, we tend to sweat more, and this can lead to oiler skin and breakouts – so it’s a good idea to change your pillowcase every few days to make sure it’s free of impurities and dead skin cells that we naturally shed overnight. Before you go to bed, use a gentle cleanser like Simple® Kind To Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel, and you’ll have thoroughly cleansed, fresh feeling skin till morning.

If you’re in a hurry to get to bed try Simple® Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes. They are cleansing yet moisturising, so there’s no tight, dry feeling afterwards. Perfect for speedily wiping off make up and leaving your face fresh and hydrated after a sunny day or long summer night.

Here are Skin Intern Ellie’s top spot-fighting tips!

In a spot of bother?

Spots! Always a tricky one…The temptation to just cover them up with makeup is a very real. However, this can just prolong the life of the spot rather than address it! Try these nifty tips and tricks:

  • Try the Simple® Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper, which can really help to clear up that spot, it’s gentle on your skin but tough on your spot!
  • Ice cubes! Ice cubes can be a real saviour when it comes to spots. Careful take one out the freezer using a tea towel to hold it, and press it gently against the spot. Not only will it soothe the spot, but it could also reduce redness. A few minutes of ice against it can reduce its swelling!
  • Go bare faced! Letting your skin breath occasionally is always a good plan, and if you do wear make up be sure to properly remove it at the end of the day - this helps to avoid grime in your pores, clogging them up and potentially causing more breakouts!

The key thing is to not blitz your skin with products which leave it dehydrated – keep things straightforward. Smile… It’s Simple® :)
