city center

Kat! I am in Chicago this weekend for the first time. What should I make sure to see here?

  1. BLACKHAWKS STORE ON MICHIGAN AVENUE! I’m assuming you’re going there, anyway, but just in case.
  2. Check out the Bean (“Cloud Gate” pfft whatever) at Millennium Park. Yes, it’s a tourist attraction, but it is really pretty.
  3. MUSEUMS! Any of the big five (Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, or the Art Institute of Chicago) are good for first-timers.
  4. Try some Chicago-style pizza! I’m partial to Lou Malnati’s, other people will chime in with their own recommendations, but whatever you do, don’t go to Giordano’s.
  5. Don’t go to Navy Pier. Overrated, and it’s being remodeled anyway.
  6. Uhhhhh whatever else you want to do depends on what neighborhood you’re staying in?
  7. Anyone want to chime in on what else to do in Chicago?

Throwback Thursday: Principal Dancer Sonia Rodriguez and Former Principal Dancers Jennifer Fournier and Aleksandar Antonijevic (from left to right) with Artists of the Ballet in class when the company toured to New York’s City Center in 1998.

The National Ballet of Canada takes Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland on tour to New York City’s Lincoln Center from September 9—14. More information here.

This is my most recent project. I went to several of Oakland’s Districts and photographed visual landmarks that people relate to that area. Then I created a logo/type treatment for each one and added a brief description about them. I hope you all enjoy these, it was a fun project.
