Lewis faction agrees to “clean slate elections” in May, 2015
In an effort to resolve the on-going tribal council disputes, on Sunday, Aug. 24, the off-site Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians tribal council, led by Chairman Reggie Lewis, held a mediated settlement meeting in hopes of ending the leadership dispute which has lasted since 2011.
Once rival factions of Chukchansi Tribe agree to 2015 election
Once rival factions of the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians in California agreed to hold an election next year but another group is disputing the plan. Factions led by Reggie Lewis and Nancy Ayala signed an agreement to establish the “2014 Unification Tribal Council.” They want to hold a “clean slate” election in May 2015 to resolve their long-running dispute.
