How to Spike Your Nog!

Warning: No alcohol was used in the making of this beverage.

No seriously. I don’t really drink (well, most kombuchas have traces of alcohol in it) so one day after I bought some So Delicious Pumpkin Spice Nog and Original flavor for Thanksgiving, I thought about wanted to try Chameleon Cold Brew in nog. To my surprise it was better than Starbucks. Four ingredients, plus any additions to make your beverage worth saving $6+ every visit.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients

  • 1/2-1 cup Pumpkin Spice Nog (or any vegan nog of your choice)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup nondairy milk, I used coconut milk
  • 1/2-1 tbsp sweetener, (maple, agave or stevia)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup Chameleon Cold Brew
  • Ice cubes

Directions

In a mason jar, add all ingredients and stir or shake well. Enjoy!

I can’t say I’ll have it often but it’s a great and yet interesting substitute from by Starbucks, even if some of their coffees can be made vegan. Not sure of which ones are vegan? Here are a few sites to look over.

You don’t have to be a coffee drinker or a Starbucks lover. If you do enjoy a cup of coffee every now and again, at least give this a try. As weird as this recipe may be, you’d be surprised by what you come across. It’s been crazy these last few weeks (I say that a lot) but just remember: Breathe deep and give radiant vibes!

Touted as “The best coffee you’ve ever tasted. Period.” this Austin-based cold brew has a lot of explaining to do.

While there’s nothing inherently bad about the taste, there’s also not much to it, either. I can tell that it’s coffee. I can grab on to the tail end of the slightest hint of vanilla and a fruity aftertaste. But there’s virtually no standout flavor from the beans that went into brewing this “for over 16 hours in clean, cold Hill Country water.”

It might be worth buying if you knocked another $3.00 off the price, but I can’t reason this as is at $4.00 a pop for bland coffee.

Pros: Moderate caffeine lift, low acid, fair trade

Cons: Bland, expensive, glass bottle

Most know, but just in case: first 50 people at each day of @galaxzfair (mon & tues) receive complimentary bottle of Chameleon Cold Brew + macaroons from CC’s Sweets. Texas run places with good people supporting good things. Get your passes online at www.galaxzfair.com or Melhart’s!!!

Grocery day! Here is my vegan food haul for this week: oatmeal, grapes, strawberries x2, avocadoes x4, mango x2, mini bananas, cucumber x2, pear, sweet potato x3, green leaf lettuce, spinach, lemon, vanilla silk yogurt x2, tomatoes x5, frozen beans x2, silk choco milk, almond milk, baby carrots, IQ cleanse juice, kohlrabi, 6lb bananas, and chameleon cold-brew mocha coffee. I spent under $40.00. (:

illy’s Mochaccino bottled coffee hits just the right sweet spot but fails to deliver on coffee flavor and caffeine content. The cocoa and milk are at the forefront while the coffee is just an afterthought. It rates higher than the Chameleon cold brew because at least chocolate is a flavor rather than the drink being absent any. Good for people who prefer chocolate milk to coffee but still need a tiny bit of caffeine in the morning.

Pros: smooth, chocolate
Cons: glass bottle, 48mg of caffeine, lacking coffee flavor
