Here’s a few stretches that will help you loosen up those tight muscles & give you a flexible feel with any exercise that you attempt. I recommend doing this everyday, even if you don’t work out. Get into the habit of this & you will dodge back pain!
1. The Butterfly Stretch
This stretch is definitely one of the most easiest & simplest way to relieve back pain. I normally start out with something as basic as this and work my way down the stretch list. Make sure to count when you’re breathing. Inhale for four counts and exhale for the next four.
2. Pigeon Stretch
This stretch is one of my favorites! I learned how to do this when I took Yoga for the first time! Not only is it good for the back, but it also stretches out a number of other muscles. One of the best stretches for me if I am going on a long run (usually 3-6 miles).
3. Double Pigeon Stretch
This stretch is very efficient for your hips & your inner thighs. It’s easy to get to this form from the butterfly. It’s important to keep your back straight throughout all these stretches. It is more effective with proper breathing as well.
4. Seated lover back stretch
I love doing this stretch because you can basically do it anywhere without having to get down on all fours. It’s important to crouch your back properly, each vertebrae at a time. & be patient! Many people fly through their stretches & never give their bodies enough time to absorb the action that is being done.
