Bruins Rant > 140 Chars.

After previously destroying Peters of the Canes, last night we make him look like a champ.

Still not satisfied with Looch. Bartkowski deserved the goal. Looch isn’t the only one failing right now but his rancid performance over the past 25 games is what puts him #1 on the shit list offensively.

Hamilton will return Monday night after being a healthy scratch for a few games.

I still say, put Lucic on the 4th line with Thornton. Let him get his physical game back, some pride, some effort, then maybe the rest will follow. Maybe put Seguin with Jagr? This team in its current state isn’t going to win playoff games..

The Bruins Miss Marc Savard a lot more Than We Know

The Bruins offensive struggles are well documented of late. The Bruins power-play struggles are well documented since the Marc Savard injury.

Key stats:

2010-2011 Season:

In 25 games, in which Savard played, the Bruins power-play percentage clipped along at 19.54%. Extrapolated to the full season this would have ranked them 8th in the NHL, instead of the 20th they actually finished with a 16.2% success rate.

2009-2010 Season:

Savard played in 41 games throughout this season during that time again the teams PP% was 19.5%. The Bruins average for the full 82-game schedule was again in the 16% range at 16.6%. Savard had 16 PP Points, one for every 10th PP attempt. The Bruins drew a league 2nd to last 265 penalties over 82 games for a 3.2 TPP/GM in Savard’s 41 games that number rose to 3.87 TPP/GM.

2008-2009 Season:

Marc’s last full season. 30 PPP over the 82 games. The Bruins power play ranked 4th  in the league with a 23.6%.The full season effect of Marc Savard cannot be overlooked in finishing with the most points in the Eastern Conference.

The Marc Savard effect is the difference every night between the Bruins winning the president’s trophy and being that unstoppable force they were that year. Their runs in the following 2 seasons, including the November and December play, that saw them go 26-3-1 in more than a 2 month span was achieved despite a power play that clicked at only 13%. The Bruins are by far the best 5 on 5 and short-handed team in the NHL. The only drawback continues to be the power play struggles that have loomed since Savard’s absence began.
