'Battle: Los Angeles' REVIEW

Certificate 12A Director Jonathan Liebesman Starring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan Running Time 116 mins

SYNOPSIS: A Marine Staff Sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) who has just had his retirement approved goes back into the line of duty in order to assist a Lieutenant and his platoon as they fight to reclaim the city of Los Angeles from alien invaders. The world’s most populated cities are subjected to a set of coordinated surprise attacks.

MY THOUGHTS: This big budget film deals with yet another alien invasion. ‘Skyline’ was horrifically bad, the last movie to attempt the genre. Battle:LA shows glimpses of character depth and at times real emotion from it’s characters. The set pieces are impressive but it is little more than a popcorn movie that is well directed and as you can imagine full of cliches. Furthermore, Ne-Yo is in it. He is not an actor, he is a musician. Aaron Eckhart does nothing to tarnish his reputation.

NEXT FILM: Aaron Eckhart will next be seen in ‘The Rum Diary’ with Jonny Depp and Amber Heard.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Check out Eckhart in ‘Thank You for Smoking’ and his role in ‘The Dark Knight’

"I’d rather be in Afghanistan"

RATING: 3 out of 5.
