Smoaking Billionaires AU where Felicity and Tommy don’t believe Oliver’s dead and set out on a mission to find him. Said mission leads them to Hong Kong. (Before or after the three of them get together, doesn’t matter.)
KRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS. KRIS, GIVE ME THE THING.
Because what if Tommy Merlyn, comparable Luddite, hires fresh-out-of-college (TWO YEARS LATER. 2009, FELICITY SMOAK, MIT, CLASS OF 09) Felicity Smoak to cast a digital net to search for all mention or trace of Oliver Queen (seeing as how the physical net dragged the ocean floor and found nothing—no body or hope or anything else.) And she’s never met Oliver Queen, barely had a working tabloid knowledge of him before getting this gig.
But watching the determined hope and passion of Tommy Merlyn as he insists his best friend is alive, insists he can be found, Felicity begins to care by proxy. First she wants to find Oliver because Tommy so clearly NEEDS HIM (and Felicity knows all about hunting the world for people you need who left you behind.)
But then, of all things, a basic alert she set on Oliver’s e-mail account goes off about login activity, and Felicity traces it to an internet cafe in Hong Kong.
She tries to caution wariness to Tommy, tries not to get his hopes up, but there’s buzzing energy in them both that makes them jittery, makes them both feel like this one could BE something. So Tommy charters his dad’s jet and tells Felicity to pack a bag; he needs her there, he says, for in case there’s further digital digging to be done once they’re on location. (But really, he needs her there because he’s come to rely heavily on her moral support; she cautions him when he gets manically close to that dangerous knife-edge hope offers, but she keeps him from despair with practical odds and chances that he COULD be right; Oliver could be alive. Felicity is the only solid presence in this hunt with Tommy, the only one by now anything close to as invested in finding Oliver Queen alive, no matter how far or long they have to search. He needs her.)
And Waller orders the hit, but not just on Tommy Merlyn, pesky rich boy hellbent on dragging his best friend back from the dead if he has to go to hell and walk out the other side without looking back to do it. This Felicity Smoak could be a dangerous problem; she seems the type to go like a dog with bone if she catches the faintest sniff of ARGUS anywhere near the search for Oliver Queen. Neither can live; Oliver can’t pull the trigger.
Instead he does something… drastic.)
