Favorite David Tennant Characters (2/10)

Hamlet

"Not a whit, we defy augury; there’s a special providence in the fall of a sparrow. If it be now, ‘tis not to come; if it be not to come, it will be now; if it be not now, yet it will come: the readiness is all"

This pretty sums up about what happened on that night SeTaoHo just arrived in Hainan

based on a fangirl who followed them (i only trans the main points, you can read full here) [x]

The street was quite dark, so they (SeTaoHo) didn’t drive very fast at first. But then there were a lot of cars chasing them, two cars which there were a few men inside drove really fast and almost reached them, so SeTaoHo had to started driving fast. The OP’s taxi driver then asked them to stop chasing SeTaoHo.

But she refused because if they had stopped, there would have been only them and the taxi driver, since the taxi driver kept talking creepily to them like “asking them to stop chasing and go home with him instead), the OP was really scared, she even wanted to call the police.

Then suddenly SeTaoHo’s car stopped. The men from those two chasing cars went out and took pictures. Sehun looked at Tao, Tao then asked them to stop following. He just said it and those men started stepping back, Tao was surprised to know they were men. He stepped forward to look closer, those men immediately hid away and kept silent. The atmosphere was very serious, the OP was so freaking afraid, she thought those men were the enemies or sth.

She really wanted to leave, she didn’t want to chase them anymore. Then suddenly the creepy taxi driver pat her back and smile slyly at her, she freaked out and shouted “ah”. Sehun saw and yelled at the taxi driver "Ya!!", and Tao glared at him, that creepy dude had to stop.

Then Sehun said sth to Tao, Tao turned around asking those men to stop chasing them, he begged them. Suho then came and asked them to get on the car. Later the OP’s car was bounded by those two cars, there were two men holding a stick for a long time, suddenly the OP recalled about girls getting killed by the paparazzi’s car… those men said sth she couldn’t understand then she left after they went away. The OP totally got scared, she almost cried.

The Story of Niko - Sword of the Berserk: Guts’ Rage

I think this might be Miura’s crowning achievement so far when it comes to absolutely devastating apostle back-stories. Just looking at these images makes me want to cry.

okay, I’ve reconsidered this question, and I have some more thoughts about attractiveness as a person who is Not Attractive and never has been, and will not be, barring an act of god or the sudden discovery of a passion for exercise.

(the former being more likely than he latter)

Because a lot of people (advice columns, mothers, etc.) respond to the question of attractiveness with suggestions about changing your mode of presentation—dress in a way that gives you confidence! they say, That’s what’s really attractive! If you think you look good, you’ll feel better about yourself!

Very few of those people mention how much effort, time, thought, and money has to go into “looking good.” Fewer ask whether you care about wanting to look good, or talk about the fact that such advice just seems to swap out one societal standard for another.

And they especially don’t talk about how “looking good” is not an attainable thing for everyone. Because the truth of the matter is some people are just not attractive by the definition society gives. Yeah, we can talk about how unfair that standard is, how it seems like the be-all-end-all for women, how narrow and white that hole is—look, it’s a fucking stupid standard, but it’s there, and the weight of it is real. And the reality is that short of an invisibility cloak, nothing is going to hide the fact that I am a size 16. I can pack on the concealer and do my eyeliner divinely, but the truth is I have some spectacular acne scarring on my cheeks; long sleeves will hide my stretch marks but I can’t will them out of existence. I can’t “look good” I can only look passable, look like I’m trying. That’s the closest I get.

(in fact, when I dress up nicely, I tend to feel like the whole world becomes insincere—people tell me I look nice in the way that they tell a little girl wearing her mother’s lipstick she looks nice. bless her heart look at the fat girl trying to be a person isn’t she adorable)

So what you do instead, is you choose another standard. You say, I will never be beautiful, but I can be smart and kind and fierce and true, I can do good work, make and mend, I can be a friend and a sister, I can live my life the best way I know how and that is enough that is more than enough. That is a higher, harder, truer, finer calling than being beautiful.

It doesn’t quite drown out all the voices telling you that your worth is determined on a ten-point scale, but it helps.

things I would like to see play a role during harurinralia in regards to pro swimming!haru

Because I think everything in here could tie in so nicely, and it makes so much sense. At least in my mind. I’m just focusing on pro swimmer Haru and swimming with Rin rather than on RinHaru itself though I’ll save that for another post.

You know when the water is nowhere near being ‘defanged and neutered’ and does seem to be more than enough?

I’m including a shot to S1ep01 because I love this parallel so damn much. In the first Rin still gets Haru fired up, but (imo) Haru mistakes the sight he sees for the solitude he thought he seeked (aka, his old definition of free) because Rin and him weren’t on the same wave-lenght. But now that they are on the same page, that their relationship has been mended we can see the full effect of it on its most positive form and it literally shows in his eyes. I’m so in love with those shots I could marry them.

Another bit I could marry is this:

Guys, might we discuss something else a moment?

The Cherokee Rose.  The symbol of CARYL.

Daryl himself gave this flower its association and meaning to/with Carol.

It represented “strength and hope” as he describes to her in season 2 - something which he desperately wanted her to feel/believe in because of him.

Well, since then, it seems he thinks of Carol specifically when he sees a Cherokee Rose. (Case in point; gif#4)

So, in his mind, he has melded the two together.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

Because Imma pass out from the feels in a second.

marthas-adventures-in-the-fade said:

People I follow keep reblogging that one post where the person complains about race- and gender-gating and most of their arguments are really bizarre. I mean, I'm kind of disappointed about how the DAI romances played out and I'm withholding judgment on race-gating until I see it in action, but gender-gating is fundamentally a good thing as long as it's done fairly and I don't understand how portraying a variety of sexual orientations is anti-representation and I just need to vent and aarghhh...

Let me vent as well, because there is currently nothing wrong with gender-gating or race-gating. Could there be? Certainly, but until the game has been played/seen in its entirety and it has been shown to be such, than NO, gender-gating and race-gating are not bad, anti-representation, racist things.

Some of my followers may know, but I HATE, H A T E how everyone in Dragon Age 2 was available to all genders the way they were. I love the fact they were all queer and bisexual, and they were wonderful in that way, but, but they were not made with the intent of representing bisexuals.

Bisexuality in Dragon Age 2 was used as a game mechanic, a toggle for who you could romance with your given gender. It made everyone available for a romance for convenience and fairness, not to represent the fact they were actually bisexuals. They were made so everyone had a romance and no one was upset they only got one romance of a certain gender. David Gaider has admitted to this and apologised and it is obvious in the writing that straight and opposite sex romances were tread lightly on the whole “the character is queer/bisexual aspect”. Male Hawkes were shown that Anders did enjoy men and had been with a man prior, while Female Hawkes would never know that Anders was anything more than heterosexual, when he is actual just straight-passing (which is bad, very bad in terms of representation).  When you say that you don’t want your gender restrictions, more often than not you are someone who is just upset that you can’t bang the character you want and not someone who cares about bisexuals being represented correctly. So please kindly show yourselves out and stop using representation and equality as ways to further your selfishness.

Next, as for racist, race-gates. Maybe? Until the game comes out you have no idea how the race-gating is handled so sit down and think carefully for a moment. The difference between racism and preference/attraction is respect. Cullen can treat the Qunari and Dwarf Inquisitors with the utmost respect, but not be attracted to them. Also given the fact the Qunari held Cullen and Kirkwall hostage at the point of a sword means a lot, of course if this reason does still make him racist, than Varric is also racist since he does not like Iron Bull for this reason. It should also be noted that the species of Thedas are like the aliens in Mass Effect, it’s a relationship that can be daunting and cause anxiety for some people (like Cullen). As for Solas it is hardly unusual for a marginalized group to stick with their own out of fear or culture shock, although I think his story will have more to do with elven artifacts, locations, or events than just wanting to bed an elf. However, should Bioware make it racist then I can assure you it will and should be addressed immediately by me and this fandom, but until the game is out please try to reserve you arguments for when you have more facts/evidence than “I’m upset that my Qunari can’t romance Cullen/Solas and let me tell you why that makes it racist.”

I love this fandom to death and I see plenty of valid points on the different matters and concerns that pop up, except they always begin or are followed with personal opinions or what-if scenarios and you can’t win an argument that way. I don’t even plan to win the racist argument, because there are no facts for me to reference other than Cullen’s past with Qunari and that’s fine, but I guarantee you can’t win the argument either, because there are no scenes or dialogues for you to reference at this time.

A game full of characters that are written with bisexuality as a toggle is upsetting and bad, so I embrace the gender-restrictions and will always disagree with anyone who believes it is better for representation to make them conveniently bisexual anyways or think it’s anti-representation for giving everyone a voice. I will also disagree with those who decide to make assumptions that something is racist before the game is out, because you know what? I’m black and all the arguing about how racism is present everywhere in the game only after they don’t get their way with something and before the game is even out makes me feel hella uncomfortable in this fandom. You want to correct racism in a Bioware game? Don’t wait till after the character you want to fuck isn’t made available to you, to address it.

Travel 10

Hey deathtodickens , here’s some more life for you… let’s see if some people can get some traction, shall we? Before the next round of narrative difficulty ensues, that is. Incidentally, grumpyyetamusing , I have not forgotten what was discussed over on Twitter regarding this story—though I regret to inform that it is not yet time for the envisioned scenarios. (Have patience, though.) I appreciate everybody’s patience throughout part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8, and part 9.

On Saturday morning, Steve and Christina are preparing to go museuming, as they do regularly. It is LACMA today; there is an exhibition of, in Christina’s words, “creepy pictures of dolls,” and she is very excited to see them. Her enthusiasm is quite odd, the adults have agreed, given that Christina in general hates dolls and won’t have them in the house. Stuffed and plastic animals are fine, but not human figures. Helena asks her if she will be able to sleep through the night after she sees these creepy pictures, and Christina rolls her eyes: “It’s not really dolls. It’s art, Mom.”

“You woke up screaming for three nights straight after you watched that strange animated Barbie-doll movie with your friends. And that was not really dolls, either.”

“It wasn’t art,” Christina tells her.

Steve says, “I’ll pull the plug if it gets too weird.”

“You just mean if it gets too weird for you,” Christina accuses.

“You bet that’s what I mean.”

[get to know me meme] 15 Movies (11/15)The Mummy (Returns)

I’m blaming not having watched Angel in years, but I was just on imdb and — how did I not realize that Eliot is Lindsey? How did I miss this?

Is it terrible that I’m considering a new au headcanon where Eliot’s dark past is that he used to work for Wolfram and Hart?
