Huge Vera Moore Cosmetics Haul + Review & Swatches

Hello beauties!

You all know how much I love discovering new makeup brands and I recently came across a New York based brand called Vera Moore Cosmetics that I think you all should definitely check out!

Vera Moore Cosmetics carries a full line of professional cosmetics, including eyeshadows, lipsticks, foundations, as well as skincare products, and so much more!

Let’s begin with the eyeliner pencils that I’m crazy in love with! I got three shades: ‘White’ (matte), ‘Denim’ (shimmer), and ‘Emerald’ (shimmer).

These eyeliner pencils have an easy glide-on, creamy texture that gives a smooth and richly pigmented color payoff. They’re perfect for using on the water lines since they’re extremely soft and silky.

Next, are the pearlized eyeshadows, which comes in a lovely array of shades. I have in my possession eight of the colors from this single eyeshadows collection. These glimmering, super-rich eyeshadows are infused with ultra fine shimmers and are highly pigmented and velvety smooth. They require very little effort to achieve an intense color payoff and gives a gorgeous frosty finish.

Vera Moore’s powder blushes deliver a silky color that glides on easily, blends beautifully, and creates a radiant natural glow. The shimmer shades are highly intense, while the matte colors are gauzy, but are build-able for a more pigmented payoff.

8th Avenue - light tan with fine gold shimmers

Icy Pop - bright bubble-gum pink with silver sparkles

Pink - matte medium pink

Riviera Red - intense red with a matte finish

Moving on to the lip products, beginning with the creme lipsticks. These long-wearing lipsticks glide on easily with a lightweight, creamy texture that gives an ultra moisturizing and richly pigmented payoff.

I adore the packaging of these lipsticks—-the black and gold looks so chic and luxurious. The following shades are some of my favorites from this lipstick line.

image

Cranberry - a pink-undertoned cranberry shade with a cream texture

Yes - a medium pink with a luster finish

Baby Doll - an apricot-nude hue with a slightly sheer and highly moisturizing finish

Diva Orange - a bright matte orange with a slight sheen (my absolute favorite!)

Vera’s Red - a warm red with a true matte payoff

The last products that I highly recommend trying from Vera Moore Cosmetics are the lip glosses!

I received two mint lip glosses and three regular lip glosses.

The shades ‘Sugar’ and ‘Lollipop’ are infused with mint extract and have a fresh scent and gives a cooling sensation. They have a sheer, luscious, and very hydrating consistency.

The three regular shades (‘Fuchsia’, ‘Naked Innocence’, and ‘Vera’s Red’), unlike the mint lip glosses, are very pigmented and also ultra moisturizing.

Hello! I have extremely dark acne scars (like nearly plum-colored, no joke) but also have extremely pale skin...how would you recommend I cover my scars up? I've tried a darker concealer to help with the darkness of the scar, but that obviously doesn't work well with my skintone. I have to buy higher end foundation/mineral foundation to fit my skintone shade, so I'd love to hear your recommendation for a more affordable concealer alternative!

Hi there!

As someone who also has some severe acne marks, I completely understand your struggle.  Having extremely light skin also makes covering this dark discoloration a challenge.  But through personal experience I actually have a great recommendation for you!

Physicians Formula Conceal Rx Concealer - $6

This concealer is extremely heavy duty and will cover just about everything with just one layer, and can build up to cover everything else.  The lightest shade of this (called Natural Light) is extremely pale and should really flatter your skin tone much better than a dark concealer.  Physician’s Formula is also a good brand to use when your skin is more sensitive and acne prone, so it won’t smother your skin and cause you to break out anew!  You can get this at most drugstores, Walmart or Kmart stores, or online [Drugstore.com]

I would continue to use your mineral powder to set the concealer and to even out your entire face.  With this concealer, though, you’ll definitely need to use less!

Hope this helps!

Step 1: Begin by priming the eyes with an eyeshadow primer, then apply the shade ‘Modern City’ all over the lids and lightly blend the color upwards, just above the crease.

Step 2: Apply ‘Pony Tail’ to the upper outer crease, stopping at the center of the lid and begin to blend the bronze eyeshadow thoroughly into the shimmery blue-silver color to create a nice transition between the two colors.

Step 3: Use a flat eyeshadow brush and apply ‘Naked’ under the brows, and highlight the tear ducts with the shade ‘Party Gold’.

Step 4: Line the top and bottom water lines with a black eyeliner pencil (tightlining).

Step 5: Create a winged eyeliner, using a matte black liquid eyeliner.

Step 6: Line the outer bottom lash lines with the shade ‘Pony Tail’ and smoke out the eyeshadow to create a hazy effect with a pencil brush.

Step 7: Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes, and pop on a pair of false eyelashes if desired for a completed, sultry and metallic smokey eye look!

Do you know of a good drugstore wrinkle cream?

Hello!  There are definitely some good products for prevention at the drugstore.  The key to finding a good moisturizer or serum at a lower price is to pay attention to the ingredients the products contain!  Generally, drugstore-brand products contain a lower concentration of these important, active ingredients, making them less effective than the more expensive products that contain higher levels of ingredients.   So while you’re shopping, take a glance at that ingredients list (have your smartphone handy to google ingredient names).  The higher an ingredient is on the list, the more potent it will be, and the more effective.

One of my favorite ingredients to recommend for fine lines and wrinkles, specifically, are peptides!  Peptides help to plump up and smooth out skin that has started to collapse into wrinkles.  While things like retinol and hyaluronic acid focus more on collagen production and hydration, peptides specifically address lines and skin’s firmness.  Peptides are more effective when combined with an ingredient like the two I mentioned above.

Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum - $20

This is a lightweight, fragrance-free serum that instantly softens the skin, and contains peptides as well as hyaluronic acid for hydration.  Serums are more liquidy than a cream, which is great for people with oily skin, but ideally you would layer a serum underneath a thicker moisturizer.  The moisturizer will add ingredients and hydration, and will lock in the benefits of your moisturizer.

I also really like the L’Oreal Dermo Expertise Revitalift Night Cream ($18), & Garnier UltraLift 2-in-1 Wrinkle Reducer ($17).  All of these items are available at most drugstores and on drugstore.com!

All in all though, I have to really urge you to invest in your skin care.  Save on everything else, but the things that you put close to your skin are really important.  You want them to work, and to be the best quality.  Your skin is the largest organ in your body, so it’s really important to take care of it!  And you’re really never too young to start a skincare routine.

Simple Bridal Makeup Tutorial & AngelContacts.Com Giveaway!

Hello beautes!

I haven’t done a tutorial in quite a while, so here’s a super simple eye makeup tutorial, dedicated to all of my August brides! This bridal look is quick and easy, and can easily be altered to fit your preferences. I opted for a natural brown smokey eye look since I wanted to give the eyes a bit of drama without being overly dramatic. This bronze-y eye look is sultry and glamorous, and is perfect for a summer wedding!

Also, I teamed up with AngelContacts.Com for an awesome giveaway, where one winner will win an e-gift card for one pair of circle lenses and one pair of synthetic false eyelashes from AngelContacts.Com!

Keep reading for the bridal makeup tutorial and details on the giveaway at the end of the post!

For this tutorial, I turned to my lovely Lorac Pro Palette. The variety of neutral colors in this palette are ideal for a natural look or a smokey look, and they’re all velvety and stunning!

Steps:

1) Start by priming the eyes with an eyeshadow primer to ensure that the eyeshadows apply smoothly and radiantly, and will last all day. Then, take a flat eyeshadow brush and pat the color “Light Bronze” from the Lorac Pro Palette all over the lids.

2) Next, apply the shade “Espresso” on the outer lids and blend the eyeshadow upwards into the crease. Make sure to blend the color thoroughly to achieve a clean and smooth transition between the two colors.

3) Use “White” as the highlight color and apply it underneath the brows and on the tear ducts.

4) Line the bottom lash lines halfway with the color “Sable” and use a pencil brush to smoke out the warm brown eyeshadow to create a hazy effect.

5) Apply a black eyeliner pencil to the upper waterlines, then line the eyes with a black liquid eyeliner. You can switch out the liquid eyeliner for a gel liner if desired.

6) Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes, and apply a pair of false eyelashes to give the lashes additional length and volume, and the eye makeup look is complete!

The pair of false eyelashes that I am wearing are the Wispy Charm lashes from AngelContacts.Com. These synthetic lashes have a subtle criss-cross pattern and are lightweight and very natural looking. If you wish for a more voluminous and dramatic look, I highly suggest Angel Contacts’ Sweet Glam lashes—-they’re dense and beautiful, and they closely resemble mink eyelashes!

image

The pair of circle lenses that I am wearing are also from AngelContacts.Com and they’re the GEO Nudy Gray lenses. These lenses are very natural and comfortable.

For more information on circle lenses, you can check out my previous blog post here.
