Rogue: XS Old Crustacean Barleywine

wtf is this? so fucking bitter, so hoppy. so weird. totally not feeling this one… well, im feeling it the 750ml @ 11.5% ABV.

it is intense.. but im not feeling any balance from the bitterness. it did start to grow on me, but it could be just cuz i was hell of loaded.ย  OH WELL /drunk

Yak and Yeti Restaurant and Brewpub was our fifteenth Colorado brewery to visit since August. This charming Indian-Nepalese restaurant is housed in a lovely historic home in Arvada.ย

Bryan and I stopped for some lunch and beers. There is a tasty looking buffet, but we opted to split and order of Chicken Korma to enjoy with our beers.

I enjoyed a flight of tasters including: GF Apple Ale, Himalayan IPA, Chai Milk Stout, West Coast Glutton Double IPA, Oscuro Navidad Grand Cru, and Devil’s Wine Barelywine.

The beers were across the board for me. I didn’t care for the Apple Ale (2.5*), but I really enjoyed the Chai Milk Stout (4.5*). All the rest fell somewhere in between.

The food was delicious and we enjoyed talking to the bartender and learning a bit about his culture.

Yak & Yeti has since opened another location in Aurora and they also have a restaurant in Westminster.

I’d like to give the location in Aurora a try since it is the closest. I could go for another order of Chicken Korma and enjoy a nice Chai Milk Stout.
