The Manchester Art Gallery now has on viewRaqib Shaw’s largest solo exhibition to date. Open until May 26th this exhibition will feature 28 recent (and many previously unseen) works by the artist including large scale paintings, sculptures and works on paper, drawn together from private collections around the world.(via ArtLyst)
Tate’s Tanks Take To Task Sung Hwan Kim Artlyst (London)
The Korean performance artist Sung Hwan Kim is the first artist to be commissioned for an installation in ‘The Tanks’, Tate Modern’s new galleries permanently dedicated to performance and film. The exhibition is supported by Sotheby’s and is unveiled from 18 July to 28 October.
Kim is known for his interdisciplinary work, incorporating installation, video, performance, music, light and drawing. He interweaves personal history, fantasy, rumour, politics and culture to create a work that responds to the unique architecture of The Tanks.
Fourth Plinth Artwork Proposals Unveiled In London For 2015/2016 Commission
The six proposals for the next two Fourth Plinth Commissions were unveiled today in London. The artists Marcus Coates, Hans Haacke, Mark Leckey, Liliane Lijn, David Shrigley and Ugo Rondinone have been commissioned to produce maquettes of their proposed works, which will go on display at St Martin-in-the-Fields from 25 September – 17 November 2013. The two selected artists will be announced by the Mayor of London in early 2014, and their works will be unveiled in Trafalgar Square in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
