la la la, here’s another design assignment

the original illustration this was based on was an Ernst Haeckel scientific illustration (this one, specifically) and the whole final thing is a zillion hours of ink and various ink implements, including but not limited to bamboo reed pens, Japanese brushes, cotton swabs, and my fingers.

my computer was being a turd so i was at least able to doodle this human GLaDOS (i guess???) on MSpaint

i never really liked how most human interpretations of her are in skintight jumpsuits, why wouldn’t she wear a lab coat?

HI, I’M REALLY MAD AT MY COMPUTER BECAUSE IT MAKES PHOTOSHOP RUN AT 20% SPEED AND EVERY BRUSH STROKE TAKES THREE SECONDS TO SHOW UP ON THE SCREEN SO I’M LITERALLY PAINTING BLIND AND I HAVE TO TURN THIS IN AS IT IS BECAUSE PHOTOSHOP IS PRACTICALLY UNUSABLE FOR WHAT I NEED TO USE IT FOR AND I CANNOT FINISH THIS PROJECT

THANKS, COMPUTER.

i just really wanted to ink and color something after having spent all this time drawing charcoal still lives

it’s transparent too if dragging png files around your dashboard is your thing

I was kinda lacking inspirations so I asked Raiti for a prompt and she gave me “haze” so I rolled with it and came up with this!

“This” being a smoke spirit girl named Duma who likes to hang out around campfires and doesn’t leave until someone either tells her a good story or extinguishes the fire. However, if the story is too good, she’ll stick around even longer to hear another one and can only be deterred when the wind blows her away.

I forgot how much fun making characters can be!

Eeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhh I’m gonna call this done.

There was a big wad of tentacle vines on the left side of the page but I didn’t like the composition, so I just played it safe and left the background boring and plain.

So um

Maybe I’ll spend next week drawing somebody other than Mark.
