My final video project for Making Colorado: Let’s Take a Walk!

Arapahoe County is named after the Arapaho people, a nation of Native Americans who largely inhabited Colorado before the arrival of European influence.

Arapaho still inhabit the Western plains. Pictured above is the April 2013 cultural immersion trip between Arapahoe High School (Centennial) and the Arapaho Nation in Wind River, Wyoming.

Students from Arapahoe High School came bearing presents for an elementary school on the Wind River reservation, to which the children responded “Haho’u”, meaning thank you in Arapaho.

Pictured: Cherry Knolls Park, Centennial.

Arapahoe County is full of neighborhood parks. South Suburban hosts over 100 parks alone between Centennial and Littleton.

Open spaces provide room for all ages, between club sports and spending time outside.
