A large swirl can be seen over North America at the upper left center. The large dark hook is dry air spiraling into the storm center from the SW. To the west of this dark spiral a spiral of bright white clouds, with a leading edge of higher (bluer-tinted) clouds can be seen. Inside teh dark hook, a thin line of powerful convective storms can be seen. This storm system caused many fatalities as it ripped through the midwest.
