Personal Styling: 4 Pants, 28 Ways

A few things we strive for in our wardrobes: whimsy, romance and a healthy dose of versatility. We have no room in our closets for one-trick ponies, which is why we’re going bottoms-up bold with this pronouncement: standout pants will get you more use than any single dress—or yes, even pair of jeans—that you own. And we’re backing it up with math, courtesy of Christina, our personal stylist and statistician of chic, who has outfitted four new silhouettes from our latest lookbook seven ways apiece, for an entire February’s worth of ensembles. How’s that for getting a leg up?

"This sculptural pair nips the waist and shows a little ankle, while a sweeping blouse and chunky necklace add even more drama. Heels always flatter when worn with crops.”

"Modernize a classic stripe with a fitted silhouette and colorful beads.
Add a hat and flats for weekend sightseeing.”

"Put a little spring into your step with a daisy top, refined necklace and a coordinated shoes and bag pairing.”

"Catch a movie in this whimsical top. Grab a cardi for warmth, keep your popcorn cash handy and be ready for a post-flick drink in comfy-cool heels.”

"Running around town? A simple tee-and-sneaks outfit does the trick. Just add a headband for polish and your wallet with the essentials.”

"A romantic top and earrings are must-haves for an effortlessly pretty look, but give it a twist with striped heels and a structured bag.”

"A subtly off-the-shoulder top and killer heels make for a perfect date night look. Keep your earrings simple and your clutch on the wild side.”

"I love the Hepburn-esque drape of this classic pair. They’re tailored enough for work but laidback enough for weekend. A solid blouse and coordinating heels never fails to look chic with drapey wide-legs; break up the colorblocking
with a textural necklace.”

"A graphic top is a sharp counterpoint to the pants’ soft drape. Finish your look with pale shoes, a necklace, and a pinky-red lip for a pretty pop.”

"Give your pair a 70s spin with a tee, metallic wrap belt, sky-high
platforms and a floppy rancher.”

"These pants were made for the office. A shirt with a hint of quirk plays nicely with a refined necklace, chunky heels and a sleek tote.”

"…Or were they made for events? With a pretty top, red pout and sparkly necklace and clutch, you’ll be the picture of unstudied elegance.”

"Warm weather getaway in your future? Just throw a strappy tankshades and an armful of bangles into your beach bag and you’re ready!”

"…But for now, layer on a cozy sweater, denim jacket and earthy necklace, and finish with a whimsical pair of sky-blue heels.”

"This pair is for the skirt loyalists. They’re feminine, swingy and extra comfy, thanks to the elastic waist. A neutral sweater and simple heels really let these lovelies shine.”

"My quintessential lady-who-vacations look: a crisp blouse and neutral heels paired with a unusual necklace and fun bag.”

"When heading to the office, add a splash of pattern on top and keep everything else—clutchnecklace and lips—simple and polished.”

"Spring brings out the prep in all of us. Pair a graphic tee, striped slip-ons and a go-everywhere backpack with a classic blazer.”

"Cozy sweatersscarves and booties are perfect for the last weeks of winter. And don’t forget a lanky necklace for effortless cool.”

"A patterned vest over a tee, paired with chunky platforms and worldly jewelry evokes an urban explorer kind of vibe.”

"Going to a party? A pretty blouse and cocktail ring are always invited. Don’t forget comfy dancing shoes and a dressed-up phone case for stylish Instagramming!”

"A fun print updates classic slim-leg crops. Ace proportion play with a long white blouse, chunky heels and delicate jewelry.”

"Ease, please. All you need is a teeslides and shades, with a chambray buttondown tied around the waist for temperature shifts.”

"The ultimate trying, but not too hard, weekend look: a laidback-luxe mix of sweatshirtsparkle, un-sporty sneaks and a cool-girl bag.”

"A cocktail party look is a wrap blouse, jeweled flats and simple bracelet away. Tuck a clutch under your arm for easy mingling.”

"For the girl who takes her classic with a side of quirk, a white shirt and red lip pair perfectly with sparkled slingbacks and an offbeat tote.”

"The seasoned traveler always packs a cardi for layering, an easy tee, walkable sandals and a hat for shade.”

"The ultimate wear-everywhere combo. Dinner? Work? Museum? All covered with a chic jacket, dress up-or-down blouse, interesting flats and a sweet necklace.”
