"One Piece" Goes On Hiatus

The editorial department of Weekly Shonen Jump has announced that due to a sudden illness suffered by author Eiichiro Oda, One Piece will go on an unspecified hiatus.

While it is unclear how long the hiatus will last – either just one week or more – more details are expected to be known in the magazine’s March 25 issue. It is certain, though, that the manga’s current chapter will not make the March 18 issue.

For a weekly series that has been around for over 10 years and has published over 700 chapters, it comes as no surprise that the workload has started to take its toll on the author’s health.

Update: One Piece is expected to return in the March 25 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

Punch Your Way Through “Skyrim” Like A Badass (NSFW)

YouTuber Robbaz created a handy (and charming) video guide which basically allows you to fight through Skyrim completely unarmed as a Nord and be, in his words, “a f*cking badass.”

Self-dubbed as the “King of Sweden”, Robbaz has a penchant for profane commentary, so hide the kids if you must. And speaking of kids, children violence is also present in the video. You have been warned.

Nintendo Dress

Under their HereandThereVintage collection, Etsy is selling a Game Boy-themed dress for $70. Now I’m never too quick to label anything too nerdy, but this might just qualify. I mean, it’s kinda cute, I guess. If my girl was wearing this at Comic-Con, sure. Indoors, safe from judging eyes, embarking in naughty nerd roleplay, absolutely. Anywhere else…maybe not.

And hey, Halloween is closer than you think.

“Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions” To Be Released On iPhone August 4th

According to Famitsu, one of the best strategy RPG games of our generation, Final Fantasy Tactics, will be hitting the iPhone app store later this week on August 4th in Japan. It will be priced at ¥1,800. Though the game is only for the iPhone (3GS and 4 versions), it is expected to be compatible with the iPad in the Fall.

If you’re curious about how FF Tactics manages on the iPhone’s touchscreen, the video above shows gameplay footage. The funtionality seems smooth enough, with the player able to manually rotate classes and place units on the battlefields with their finger, for example. And the soundtrack is still fantastic.

Update: FF Tactics: The War of the Lions will indeed be releasing domestically ($15.99) and in Europe (€12.99) on Aug. 4th as well!

Enemies Unite In Latest “Amazing Spider-Man 2” Trailer

In addition to an ad aired during Super Bowl 48, Sony Pictures released their latest trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The newest trailer focuses more on Maxwell Dillon (Jamie Foxx) – he apparently idolized Spider-Man – and the origin of how he becomes Electro. It then gives a glimpse of the rest of villains – Rhino and Green Goblin – who apparently will unite to take down the web-slinger.

Spider-Man’s greatest battle is set to begin on May 2 in theaters nationwide.

4 New Film Posters For Miyazaki’s “The Wind Rises”

All week long, Studio Ghibli Int'l has been releasing new film posters for Hayao Miyazaki’s 11th feature-length film The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachinu) through Twitter. The final poster went public today.

The Wind Rises centers around (and is based off real-life counterpart) Jiro Horikoshi, the chief engineer and creator of the Zero Fighter, which were fighter planes used by Japan in World War II. It honors writer and poet Tatsuo Hori, who authored a novel of the same name in the early 20th century.

The film is set to open across Japan on July 20.

First Official Trailer For “Spring Breakers”

If you haven’t heard about Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, starring Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and James Franco, it’s probably not what you think it is (or maybe it is) based on its title and the Disney stars starring in it.

As you can see from the trailer, it’s about four college girls who take the spring break experience to an extreme level. Sure, the essential spring break past times are involved – partying, drinking, fornicating – but so are a lot of drugs and a long-winded crime spree – especially when they encounter the character of Franco’s, who channels his inner Riff Raff – all while wearing nothing but bikinis the whole time.

Plus, a trailer about a spring break-centered film isn’t complete without Skrillex and the words “spring break” repeated over and over.
