Chris Kyle, the the most lethal sniper in United States military history, was killed Saturday after being shot at point-blank range “while helping another soldier who was recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome” at a gun range in Texas. Kyle, who had 150+ confirmed kills, was assigned to SEAL Team 3 and was given the nickname Al-Shaitan Ramad (The Devil of Rahmadi) by insurgents for his deadly track record.

In 2008 outside Sadr City, Kyle made his longest successful shot at a range of 2,100 yards (1.2 miles).

Kyle more recently wrote the best-selling book, “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History.”
