Info about Chicago’s house roots might be old hat to most musicians, but it’s news to a new generation of music lovers who listen to house music produced by groups hailing as far away as Sweden and Japan.  It’s no secret that house music was born in Chicago. More specifically, it was born on the South Side, courtesy of deejays including Alan King, Andre Hachett and Steve “Silk” Hurley.

20 years in the making, Joseph Budenholzer, the mastermind behind Backworld (official) is bringing to life an incredible project, an opera he’s written called ‘The Hound of Heaven’, to be staged in New York City on June 14th & 15th. Please check out his Indiegogo page, and contribute or follow updates to support this great undertaking. Wonderful projects like these truly need the support of fans and like-minded friends in order to see the light of day.

"I’ve written a new opera inspired by the classic Victorian poem by Francis Thompson. A historical fiction of Thompson’s life, it forms a spiritual and metaphysical representation of his childhood traumas and subsequent opium addiction. I’ve chosen this approach, first, to reflect the poetry and, second, to contrast our twenty-first century fixation with medical or behavioral interpretations of psychic phenomena. The story is particularly compelling to me as it contains parallels to my own life, which have also been woven into the libretto."

We’re really excited to be working with We Are Stations! Loving the empowering message of optimism and hope in their song “Keep Your Head Up”.  Great work on the new vid guys!  Looking forward to working together.

Four musicians living in New York City that were about to pack away their rock-and-roll dreams before colliding into one another, the music of We Are Stations is defined by a sense of new beginning and hope, with anthemic pop-rock hooks, uplifting, inspirational lyrics, and heartfelt passion.

"Combining a flurry of horns and piano chords, with banjo, violin, and layered vocals to create upbeat, folk-pop tracks…continuing in the tradition of Edward Sharpe and & Magnetic Zeros’ upbeat-yet-sensitive multi-instrumental hits." says Altsounds.comSLUG Mag says ‘How in the hell is this band not on the ipod of every single person on the planet?!’

The National Parks are a three piece indie folk band from Provo, Utah creating songs with foot-stomping beats, soul-lingering melodies, and deep-hearted lyrics, drawing comparisons to The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, and Noah and the Whale. They bring a sound that is contemporary, organic, and uniquely timeless. More sights, sounds, & info here:

TONIGHT - Record Release Party in NYC - Come see Kayleigh Goldsworthy perform her new album “Burrower” with a full band at PIANOS

Check out the awesome album review below…

"The first track "Spark" is an example of that "punk meets folk" feel for me. The proclamation of certain phrasings really have that "I’m kind of pissed and you are going to listen" punk vibe. Well, Ms. Goldsworthy, you have my attention."
