Campbell Bain’s gloriously bouncy hair from Takin’ Over the Asylum

Jonathan Ross: Look at young David there with his hair
David Tennant:  Look at the youthfulness.  Look at the slightly auburn locks!
Jonathan: Was it dyed that color?
David:  No, that was just how it came out of my head
Jonathan: So your hair was kind of a mousier blondie-brown then?
David:  Yeah
Jonathan: …and now it’s a dark… is it dyed now?
David:  No
Jonathan:  I think it’s dyed a bit now
David: I think I’ve just got darker
Jonathan:  You’ve matured
David: I’ve matured
Jonathan: That’s what it is - you’ve grown into yourself
David: (grinning - you can hear it) I have.

Jonathan:  The hair there is quite something
David:  Yeah, it’s the longest hair I think I’ve ever had.  It’s quite… it’s got quite a lot of bounce to it.

#tbt: Back to Black — Amy Winehouse

It’s freezing today in the Midwest, so I’ve crawled back into some of my darker albums. Amy Winehouse gives us a jazzy but painful pluck of the heartstrings with “Back to Black.” Her voice is smokey and soulful, and she reveals true vulnerability when she tells us “I died a hundred times/ You go back to her and I go back to black.” Sometimes, when we’re sad or lonely, it’s good to seep into music that is relatable and powerfully empathetic, and Amy, no matter how lonely she was, will continue to give us all something to turn to when we go back to black.
