Kelsey liveblogs medical school

Our medical ethics professor just asked the room whether there was anyone in the room who was exempt from any of the temptations of money, power, sex, or drugs. (I really wanted to raise my hand.)

After an awkward chuckle, he then asked if there was anyone in the room who didn’t like sex (implying, of course, that it’s a ridiculous question).

I REALLY WANTED TO RAISE MY HAND.

Just trimmed all my fingernails in preparation for the first anatomy lab tomorrow.

I probably shouldn’t admit I’m kind of nervous, but I am. Only slightly excited, and mostly nervous. This will be an interesting day.

WAS IT COOL THOUGH DID YOU GET TO DO COOL THINGS

IT WAS SUPER COOL. Messy, and quite smelly, and we rather butchered the latissimus dorsi on one side and are having problems with the trapezius on the other size due to a HUGE abundance of superficial fascia (HUGE. SO MUCH. IT IS EEEEEVERYWHERE) but it was very very neat! All six of us were there today but we were all able to work, so that was really good.

My clothes are soaking in buckets now, and I think I may need to take another shower to get the smell out of my hair!

THAT’S SO GREAT. okay I’ll go google those words and figure out what you actually did but I’M GLAD FOR YOU FRIEND

Back muscles! They are all superficial muscles in the back (and fascia is another name for connective tissue between the skin and the muscles, which in our case is all adipose/fat cells all the time). We start with the back because if you screw up there (which I am 95% sure we have done like fifteen different times) it isn’t as big of a deal as if you screwed up somewhere else.

I smell better now!
