- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day eighteen - Favorite Millefiore member
Technically, he’s a Vongola now. But even when he was still a Millefiore, the only thing I could think about while watching him is how much I appreciate him.
Whether he’s good or bad, his personality seemed so incredibly appealing to me. He’s clueless, smart, modest, grateful and immensely dedicated to his passion. His interest in robots comes first to literally everything, and that’s why Spanner is wonderful.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day three - Favorite arc
The “ Original Family of ‘Vongole’ " arc was by far the best for me. We saw for the very first time the foundation of this mysterious and important family. In my eyes, this arc made us realize how special Tsuna’s generation is. They are so immensely close to the first generation that it is misleading. But also the fact that Primo created this family, yet Tsuna almost wanted to destroy it. Sharing similarities did not by far mean they were equals, and that’s what this arc was all about.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day twenty - Anime or Manga?
This isn’t a proper opinion, because I only just begun reading the manga. So obviously, I’ll choose the anime.
But I do think that even though the manga has its unique charm that gives out the KHR magic, and that the authentic story will always be in the manga only. I am very fond of the anime adaption. There are factors in the anime which aren’t possibly it the manga that made me fall in love with the series.
Tsuna’s floppy, insecure voice echoing desperately when in trouble. Lambo’s idiotic, arrogant sounds when he justifies himself. The wonderful, shining colors of the seven flames wavering around. And not to forget the majestic opening and ending songs. Those were all very precious and important in making me a fan of this masterpiece.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day twenty-seven - Favorite opening
My heart raced incredibly the first time I saw this opening. Being generally very excited by new openings, this one gave off a great impression. But that’s not all.
When the future arc begun to explain itself, that Tsuna and the gang had to face insecurities, sadness and loneliness, this opening hit me. I understood every single word stated in the song while the passing images were incredibly strong. This opening honestly made me cry every single time I heard it, it still does.
The melancholy, the nostalgia and power behind this opening is so perfectly structured… KHR opening 4, my favorite opening of all time.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day nine - Favorite villian
Ginger Bread. He was just a side villain but he was by far the most intriguing for me. I love mysterious characters, and this one excels in it. No back story, specification about his attacks or information whatsoever. He never fought with his own body, the only thing he uses are puppets. They mentioned that Ginger controls the puppets but no one knows where the real him is hiding and how he does it. He died countless times, but he’s still there. He is never truly defeated. And no one ever saw his veritable appearance. I really do love the secrecy that floats around this villain.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day one - Favorite male character
Being kind, responsible, cheerful, innocent and calm while protecting his friends no matter what. Regret may be his greatest weakness but it has never surpassed his determination of steel. His name is Yamamoto Takeshi.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Last day, Day thirty - Why do you like KHR?
First of all, I have so so much respect for female shonen mangaka’s. Whenever I discover that a shonen I like is actually created by a woman, it just makes me so happy. It proves that women are capable of inventing a good and intriguing action story and do not only limit themselves to love stories. For most people, especially men, it opens their view of a women’s value as an author and that’s the best thing ever. My female heroes would be Hiromu Arakawa (FMA) , Ohtaka Shinobu (Magi) and of course Akira Amano herself.
That said, let’s talk about the story. I’ve watched KHR the first time some years ago. I really liked it, it was epic and very interesting despite the beginning seeming a little off. But when I’ve watched it a second time this summer, something clicked inside me.
I’d came to understand every characters intentions/struggles and everything leading to their future development. I’ve became emotionally attached to some. That’ll be Yamamoto, Lal and Spanner. The ones I understood the most. But the one that made me fall in love with the serie at a certain point was Tsuna himself.
It’s unfortunate how little of us acknowledge what Tsuna has actually gone through. Always called “Dame-Tsuna!”, he had zero friends his entire childhood. It’s used as a joke material in the serie but if you stop and think about it, don’t you think he suffered an awful lot? I relate to him on a personal level. Myself being called uncapable and a good-for-nothing my whole childhood I can assure you Tsuna enjoys every single day since his adventure begun. Why? Because he’s not alone.
Having only his mother by his side most of the time, he could not always depend on her. He had to man up. But the pressure of what a man should be like was too great, and he could not fill up those expectations. Tsuna thought of himself as a failure. That is the only single reason for him being sceptical every time. He is trash, so why should he go ahead and fight if he already knows he’s going to fail again? If he already knows people are going to judge him for that?
So when he started to evolve with everyone, it made him so happy yet so sad. He didn’t want those kind people to be dragged into his problems and incompetence. But all of them have done the effort to prove him he is not worthless. He is not alone. And that he is an important friend and leader, despite his flaws.
For that, and solely for that, I’m proud to say that KHR is one of the best manga’s in the world. Period.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day twelve - Favorite ship
I hesitated with ColoLal but I couldn’t leave this ship alone. The weird thing about GokuHaru is that they both dislike each other while they are both so similar. Their loyalty towards Tsuna, the passion they have for the things they like and their temper are equal.
GokuHaru is the type of romance where they both would walk away from each other, but look back at the exact same time.Their chemistry is the reason why they’re my favorite KHR shipping.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day eight - Favorite fight
Ganma VS Gokudera Hayato. Well, I particularly appreciate every fight that includes Gokudera. The tension increases a lot because of his temper, and that makes everything interesting. But I liked this one in particular.There are a lot of reasons to it;
We finally saw Gokudera’s System C.I.A in full action. We’ve got to see a grown up Uri. Gokudera surpassed his limits once again. But the best thing about this fight was that the only thing who kept him fighting the whole time, was his desire to prove Ganma his loyalty towards Tsuna. There was nothing more beautiful and exciting than that.
- Inlateautumn's 30 days of Katekyo Hitman Reborn challenge: Day seven - Favorite minor character
Yamamoto Tsuyoshi. I really admire him. He always stands by Takeshi’s side, supports him and encourages him without asking the reasons for his behavior. He’s such a caring father like no other. Tsuyoshi’s his son’s best friend, but he never sugar-coat his son with words that contain no point. He will always remember to be strict with him, because the outside world will be far worse than that.
