“I wonder where I should take her. Classy chick like that, I’ll have to step my game up. I wonder if she likes dessert. I wonder if she likes whipped cream,” Dean continued suggestively with a grin, earning a pointed glare from his brother.

“Seriously, I need you to shut up,” Sam said.

“Oh, come on. Don’t be like that, Sam. We’ll bring you back a doggy bag,” Dean laughed. Distracted as he was, he didn’t manage to move out of the way fast enough as Sam sent his booted foot hard into Dean’s shin under the table.



You blushed furiously and covered up quickly with a towel.

“I’m sorry. I just–I guess I forgot we aren’t really…” you fumbled for your words, unable to look at Cas.

“It’s alright,” he replied, but he was looking down, too.

“Got caught up in it,” you added. “Anyway. Im going to go change. Maybe we can wrap this case up today. Get back to normal.”

Cas merely nodded at you as you turned away, eager to lock yourself away until you stopped being embarrassed. You didn’t feel Cas’ eyes on you as you left, or see the look on his fallen face at the thought of getting back to normal; at the thought of not spending his days pretending to be someone you could love.


It’s astonishing how strongly some fans refuse to accept character development.
