Man with percussion punt gun, 19th century.

Punt guns were large bore shotguns used for duck and fowl hunting in the 19th century.  They were not used by typical hunters, but by commercial hunters who mounted them on boats and used them to kill flocks at a time (usually when they were nested in the water) to sell their meat and down for a profit.  The use of punt guns ended in the early 20th century with the passing of conservation laws banning or restricting commercial hunting.

Cache of weaponry found in student's car in VA high school parking lot.

A Middlesex High School student was arrested after investigators found  four loaded guns, knives and more than 600 rounds of ammunition inside his SUV parked outside the school Friday, according to Middlesex County Sheriff’s investigators.

The school superintendent  would not elaborate on why Martin said he had guns in the SUV. He said the student made a very poor choice that day.

That is the understatement of the year.  Do these people not realize they almost had a massacre?  Why did nobody send that child to emergency therapy?  SIX HUNDRED ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION!!  Thank [insert deity of your choice] they swept the parking lot when they did.

Walther P5

An ornately decorated limited edition Walther P5 to commemorate their 100th Anniversary back in 1986. Chambered in 9x19mm, it was issued to the German Federal Police. The Walther P5 was part of the “German Trio” of police service pistols, alongside the SIG P225 and HK P7. All three pistols were adopted but each police force in the individual German states could choose which one to issue.(GRH)
