by @industria15 #next_top_architects IN FOCUS: Donal Ryan wants to create a sports research centre climbing a cliff. Exposed structure defines internal spaces and adds a practical aesthetic layer. http://ift.tt/1CcRNwP #industria15 #dsa #dit #waterford #dublin #architecture #building #archilovers #architorture #architectureschool #instagood #architecturestudent #architexture #photooftheday #architect #architecturelovers #igers #architectural #architects #architecturemodel #model #sketch #render #rendering #doodle #draw #drawing #art #model #nofilter #iArchitectures

I realise i never posted any images from my 1st year house project in 2012. This, my first presentation axo drawing, is a workshop space for a carpenter with accommodation for an apprentice above. The use of raw materials, timber and stone, and the expression of construction were important factors in design.

Brief: Design a shelter for one person for one night on a lake side site on the grounds of Emo Court, Co. Laois. Use only one door, window, and sky light.

Solution: Concrete shelter accessed from above via stone external staircase. The minimal concrete cube is surrounded by a thermal air zone created using glazing set within glulam mullions. Designed to give views from on top of the surrounding landscape and to use the thermal mass of the materials to keep the occupant comfortable.

Fishery for Ennistymon The project brief is to incorporate a ‘process building’, in this case a fishery, adjacent to a river in the town of Ennistymon, Co. Clare, in the west of Ireland. The process includes water input and output from the river,  as well as consideration for the development of fish, cleaning/gutting and draining, packaging, smoking, and sale.   In order to integrate the process building delicately in to the fabric of the town, the decision was made to develop the project in a way which would allow the general public to move along and around the site. In doing so a new public route is created along the previously inaccessible bank of the river, and the addition of the new infrastructure results in new public space as well as private business.
