2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) - The ART OF MATT DYE / BLUNT GRAFFIX (Part 2)

The 1968 sci-fi classic  is one of the most revered movies of all times thanks to his visual scenery invented in the most minute details by Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick also took a very active part in designing the many movie posters for the movie including the ultra-rare very limited street poster called The Eye

One of the most expensive movie posters (fetching up to $10,000 in auctions), this image is an amazing piece of psychedelia which prompted MATT DYE (aka Blunt Graffix) to revamp it in 2013 as a super limited edition print with several colors and metallic inks enhancing the weird effects already included in the original poster.

Happy Birthday Matt!

All our Limited edition prints are on sale in November’13 and can be found here

STAR WARS - DARTH CHOCOLATE (2013) - The ART OF MATT DYE / BLUNT GRAFFIX (Part 1)

This week’s 10 Part blog celebrates the Art of an amazing creator who masters the art of design and printing and who in the last 6 years has created a fabulous oeuvre mixing Pop culture iconic visuals from the movies, comic book and music.

MATT DYE and his Oregon-based Blunt Graffix printing/designer shop, is a name any poster collector should know and appreciate. His printing skills mixing multi-colored silkscreen layers and metallic inks is the best in the business and his creative quirky taste for visual mash-ups is second to none.

STAR WARS is a cherished theme of Matt’s oeuvre (as we will see in part 5, 7 and 10) as George Lucas’ cast of characters has influenced so many artists including the evil and towering figure of Darth Vader.

Using the famous poster designed by British artist Tom Chantrell, Matt Dye added a twist by inserting Blaxploitation movie iconography to create this fabulous limited edition print called Darth Chocolate which exist in different variants including the one on foil paper shown above

Happy Birthday Matt!
