Weekend DIY: Outdoor Tic Tac Toe

Xs and Os, three in in row, who’s up for an outdoor game this weekend? We have a quick and easy DIY that will add some fun to your next outdoor party. First you’ll use painter’s tape to tape off lines and paint the grid on landscaping pavers. Then, use river rocks to paint the Xs and Os, or personalize further by using initials of family members. Remove the tape, lay out your grid and get to playing, this DIY is that simple.

What goes with a fun DIY? A great playlist:

Backyard Roller Coaster

This daring duo completed the ultimate father-son project: a backyard roller coaster. And now their busy building faster, bigger coasters for other families across the country.

The story is a simple one. When the son asked, “Why don’t we build our own roller coaster, Dad?” Dad obliged. Because he’s the coolest dad in town. The entire adventure is being documented on the Coaster Dad website. Coaster Dad and his son Lyle are like the Bill Nye of roller coasters – they’re breaking down the physics behind it all to make the journey as much fun as the destination, and what’s more fun than a backyard roller coaster?

Today’s DIY is inspired by all of the summer get-togethers we plan to host. What does everyone want when the weather is hot? An ice cold beverage. Today, we’re showing you how to take a planter or tub and turn it into a place for any beverage.

First, we taped off a section to paint with chalkboard paint, so you can label what’s inside. Be sure to give it two coats and let dry a few hours. Then, we taped off a second section to paint with our color of the week, Realm (again, two coats). This is an easy-peasy DIY you can customize so many different ways.

Some extra hints and tips:
*We love galvanized steel, but it can be difficult to paint due to the oil coating on the outside. For this project, stick with a resin, plastic or wood product.
*For extra personalization, have a chalkboard paint base tinted a different color.

Time to Make Something

Since being laid off from one of my jobs I have had way too much free time. I have been hanging out and enjoying my freedom and decided to finally start on a project I’ve been putting off for quite sometime. A pond for my turtles. I am not done just yet but the turtles are in and seem to really be enjoying it. Here are a few progress pics.
