“I don’t think we would write the kind of music we do, if we hadn’t established a friendship before then. There's  a sense of trust, understanding and acceptance. We feel open enough to basically express very emotional parts of ourselves. It’s hard to do with just anyone”.

Mojo Fury are also deservingly up for “Best Album” and “Best Live Act”

Another act we are working with Rams Pocket Radio are up for “Best Song”

It warms my heart that these awards are taking place. I’ve said it many times before. This country has so much talent and it’s so wonderful to see acknowledgement on our home turf.

Home from Forfey.

Yesterday we arrived home after the wonderful Forfey Festival, feel-good event of the year. This gig was particularly special for us for a number of reasons:

Firstly, it was almost exactly 2 years ago (literally off by a few hours) that we played for the first time as a full band. It’s been interesting to compare the two sets, the size and reaction of the audience, and the mentality in which we approached the stage.

Secondly, and made all the more significant by the previous point, this was the last official gig we played with Steve Mitchell (a.k.a Smitch), our terrible joker ever working bass slapper. We loved his lead-balloon antics and he shall be truly missed.

Lastly (but not least-ly) two days before the festival we released Rose Before Bloom. The reaction (so far) has been so encouraging. A big thank-you to everyone who has listened to and bought the single. Also, after our set a good number of people approached us with compliments that we really were not expecting. A HUGE thank-you to these people, including AU who included us in their write up of the festival as one of the hayshed ‘standouts’!

AU Magazine Featured Listen: Crypts – ‘Fancy’ & Shows Coming Up

Recorded in Seattle with producer Erik Blood (the man behind Shabazz Palaces’ 2011 album Black Up), Crypts mixes weighty bass drones, chopped hip-hop and oppressive electronica which is as visceral as the early punk from which Snere takes his cues. Keep up over on the official website.

Bad times for Ulster

Sad to hear this but have to agree with one of the comments that this is a perfect project for crowdfunding.. so many loyal readers and supporters would happily chip in to keep this quality magazine afloat. Arts funding is taking some big hits these days, would be a beautiful thing to see the creatives supported directly by those who love the creations.
