I guess I missed the peak of this whole unsourced music deal.

Regardless, I’d like to come out here and say that Clark Powell and a good deal of other members of the Homestuck music team are good friends of mine, and are all young musicians trying very hard to make their way in a world that is not friendly to musicians. I know firsthand that it is surprisingly difficult to convince a large group of people to take time out of their day to press that little “play” button and give your music a chance. Harder, still, is it to amass over 45,000 Tumblr notes on a piece of original music, which is a fact that is frustrating to many.

Unfortunately, the majority of the Homestuck music team exists in a strange sort of ether, where an overwhelming amount of the fanbase is not even aware of their internet presences. Saddeningly often do I see posts by fans of official Homestuck music with tens of thousands of notes, sourced only to the comic’s Bandcamp page. Meanwhile, team members like my incredibly talented best friend Jeremy “Solatrus” Iamurri (of “Frost" and "Derse Dreamers" fame) struggle to gain more than a few notes on any given Tumblr post at any given time of the day.

Here’s a list of links to all of the Homestuck music team members on Tumblr. Please check out their incredible work, and perhaps consider buying their music, or commissioning them!

This is overdue by almost a year, but I’ve finished it nonetheless! Last March Liza asked that I draw Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido as carapacians doing something romantic. “Doing something romantic” was indeed my original intention, but it’s funny how nothing goes as planned. Therefore this changed from something “romantic” to something more along the lines of “let’s draw something based on how Chain of Prospit makes me feel,” and I think it turned out even better than if I had gone with my original idea because of that. Because let’s face it, Mobius and Hadron flying around on rocket boards without a care in the world is a pretty fun concept to work with!

The chains of Prospit, however, have become a new artistic enemy of mine. If there’s an art hell, the color black is its ruler, yellow is its right-hand (left-hand?) man, and there’s a special circle reserved solely for chains, cello strings, and wings, all of which I’ve struggled with in the past. It’s not a pleasant place.

With this, I think I’ve finally come out of the art slump that’s been plaguing me since December 20th of last year! I know it’s a little late for me to be saying this now, but I look forward to 2013 being an artistically productive year and I’m excited to see what improvements await me.

Also if you look closely there’s an Unreal Air ascending into Skaia. It is RIDICULOUS what kind of air that thing is getting. Dude go get the ruler check that out.

Yeah, it’s not coming back.
