“People always think I make dark, scary, disturbing movies. People are always surprised when they talk to me or meet me that I am nothing like the movies I make. Which is a good thing, because I always say that I do not want to live in the world of my films. I don’t know, it’s filmmaking, man. It’s all make believe.”

Happy 38th Birthday James Wan! (2/26/1977)

Happy Birthday James Wan!

I like to think that I’ve matured as a filmmaker and I’ve come to realize what is important for me in a film. I think what I’ve learned is your story and your characters are the most important thing. If you have good characters, you can put them in any setting and you know what they would do, how they would react. You could put them into a horror film or a comedy or an action film, and they would swim in those worlds.
