Happy New Year!! Today is Lunar New Year’s Day and it’s now officially the Year of the Dragon. Keeping with tradition, today is vegetarian meals only, but New Year’s Eve (aka last night) always has a big feast filled with tons of food. Here’s a recap of all 9 dishes we (my parents and I) had:
Here’s the spread. Most of the dishes were cooked by my mom, I made a couple, and a couple of the meats came cooked from the Asian Food Market.
Meats! The one up top is the “Lion’s Head” meatballs in a coconut-curry sauce. Then going clockwise there’s the chicken and the roast pig from the Asian Food Market.
The more vegetabley dishes: (clockwise from the left) Fish Balls with Snow Peas and Baby Corn, Glass Noodles with Dried Shrimp, and Arrowroot & Chinese Sausage.
The more carby dishes (we also had individual bowls of rice of course!): (clockwise from left) Fried Scallops, Shrimp Rangoons, Noodles with Shanghai Choy & Mushrooms.
And a couple cooking shots:
Wok & Roll! \m/
Shrimp Rangoons frying up. This picture is a teaser for a more in-depth recap on the making of these that I will post soon, but for now it’s back to the Christmas chronicles!
