38!

When Senator Reid tried to tell redskins fans to tweet about their #redskinspride to rally support against #changethename and it backfired. This is the truth about your beloved redskins tradition. My ancestors were called redskins before largest mass hanging in US history. Remember and honor their legacy. The fact that this slur is celebrated is downright morbid.
#Dakota38 #NeverForget

Today is the anniversary of the largest mass execution in U.S. history. 38 Dakota warriors were hung in Mankato in 1862.

Of those hung, a number were innocent. In fact 2 were hung on accident. Mistaken identity. One of those hung was a white man who had been adopted and raised by the Dakota. Another, Chaske, was accused of taking a white woman prisoner, when he only protected her. After the war she refused to leave him. The Dakota people sang while walking to the hanging, & were attacked by townsfolk. 1 grabbed a Dakota infant & bashed her head in. After the conflict Dakota were exiled from their lands. Those who stayed were called Redskins & a bounty was put on their scalps. Some of my ancestors were put in a concentration camp in Sisseton SD. Gabriel Renville wrote about burying children everyday there. Some were taken to Iowa prisons, where Dakota men were forced to listen to their sisters, wives & daughters being raped by soldiers. Some Dakota was forced to march to Fort Thompson, SD, on foot, in the winter. Many were without clothes & shoes. Some Dakota fled. A group made it as far as the Spirit Lake Nation in ND. Another to Canada. They remain there.

I learned yesterday that when you see a bee on the ground that isn’t moving, it’s not necessarily dead, it’s probably just dead tired from carrying lots of pollen and needs re-energising. So if you mix a tiny bit of water with some sugar and let it drink it will give it the boost it needs to continue on its way. Bizarrely, this exact thing happened today! I found a knackered bee, mixed up some sugar water, gave it a drink and watched it guzzle and guzzle then suddenly come back to life. It was amazing! Thank you patrick, it was an excellent tip that i’ll never forget and will continue to pass on to others!
