Here's hoping Rondo's over Perk
Breaking up is hard to do. Rajon Rondo has been all torn up, his heart tossed to a waste basket, after the surprise deadline deal that sent his boyfriend Kendrick Perkins to the OKC Thunder for a hobo and some guy who’s supposed to take Marquis Daniels’ place.
It hasn’t been said enough that, while Perkins’ overall effect on Boston had more to do with team unity, Ubuntu, brotherhood and emotion rather than his over-appraised defensive grit, rebounding and pick and roll defense, the deadline deal set Boston tumbling because of what it did to Rondo.
He hasn’t been the same.
Until Thursday night, that is.
Rondo lit a fart under his seat, blowing up the Spurs with 22 points and 14 assists, and leading the Celtics past 100 points, sweet sweet glory 100.
He’s the key to number 18 hanging down from the Garden in June. It’s about time he realized it.
