Yesterday was epic. The night ended with Craig Robinson, but the day started with two incredible Yo Gabba Gabba live shows at the Beacon. The Roots, Devendra Banhart, Keri Russell, and Talib Kweli performed with DJ Lance and the Gabba gang (Dinosaur Jr. and DMC played the show I missed).
The performer who received the biggest reception?
Biz Markie.
‘Cuz in case you didn’t know, kids (and parents) love the Biz.
I’ve only accomplished forty condensed minutes of productive work today.
(I must have spent the rest of my time, all week, making and revising a mega To Do List, over and over, and when things can’t be crossed out, when my body can’t physically comply, I rewrite and reorder the days.)

Vermeer’s Masterpiece The Milkmaid is on display at the Met until November, 29th, next Sunday. I met my parents Friday night (the Met is open til 8:45 on Friday and Saturday, and might I add what a delightful development that is) for dinner and to see the exhibit.
The exhibition is rather short, but curated very thoroughly and thoughtfully. While Vermeer’s The Milkmaid graces the name of the exhibit and the promotional material, a bevy of other Dutch artists are represented, providing important context that illustrates Vermeer’s mastery and development.
